To start with the positives, the drinks and fried dumplings were excellent, and the sesame chicken was fantastic—crispy, moist, and tender. Unfortunately, the shrimp fried rice and s'mores dessert told a very different story. The fried rice had a very strong fishy odor, reminiscent of something that had been left in the sun for a bit too long but wasn’t quite rotten. The texture was unappetizingly mushy, almost slimy, and the taste—though I hate to say it—was simply awful. I genuinely worried that if I continued eating it, I might get sick. I mentioned to the waitress that I "didn't care for it," but in retrospect, I should have been more honest. Thankfully, they removed the fried rice from our bill. We decided to try the dessert since most of the meal had been enjoyable, but upon taking our first bite, something tasted off. It was a strange combination of peanut butter and the fishy flavor from the fried rice. I really dislike leaving negative reviews, but when half of the meal is outstanding and the other half is nauseating, it's hard to overlook. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt and hope that this was just an off day, but I'm uncertain if we'll return.
My only criticism is related to the dining atmosphere. We were the first guests seated in the dining room, and it was quite warm inside. There didn’t seem to be any noticeable air conditioning, and while the front door was propped open, the airflow was minimal. Additionally, the patio was “closed until further notice,” so outdoor seating wasn’t an option. While we were eating, we were bothered by several black flies that had clearly come in through the open door, likely attracted to our food. I didn’t see any fly control measures like a zapper or fly tape. My suggestions would be to close the door and use the AC when it’s hot outside, improve air circulation with fans, and implement some fly control measures. I understand that bugs can be an issue when dining outside, but when I’m inside during the summer, I expect a more comfortable temperature and a space free of flies. On a positive note, the restaurant offers great vegetarian options, including the ability to add fried tofu as a protein. They are also accommodating to dietary restrictions and can make small adjustments to dishes. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible, with tables that can accommodate a wheelchair in place of a chair.
This restaurant may be small, but the food is incredible. It served the best burger I've ever had, topped with a sauce that was perfectly sweet. The staff was exceptionally friendly as well. It's a place that everyone should definitely visit!
