Absolutely unreal experience. My girlfriend and I stumbled upon this local gem while we were craving some oysters. We’d usually make the trip out to Toronto to Rodney’s but wanted to avoid the hassle of driving down from Oakville today. That led us to Jake’s. A pretty unassuming spot from the outside, Jake’s has been open for about 38 years (according to our server, Scott). We rolled up at about 6pm on a Sunday and to our surprise the restaurant was full (a sign of what was to come). The hostesses were great and got us a table for 7:15. When we finally were seated, we had the pleasure of being served by Scott. He offered fantastic service and recommendations throughout! The food, wow. This might be the best seafood spot in the GTA. Ratings on the dishes we got below: Oysters (dozen): 10/10. Their house sauces were to die for. Wasn’t a major fan of the chutney but the scotch bonnet with the champagne mignonette was out of this world. Heat warning though. Scallops, escargot style: 10/10, absolutely delicious and a unique twist on what you normally see with scallops. Calamari: 10/10, tender and perfectly cooked. A light crunch from the breading with a soft finish and perfectly cooked calamari. Linguini: 7/10, nothing special here but the seafood was cooked perfectly Crème Brûlée: 8/10, good crust, solid flavour. Sticky toffee pudding: 100000/10, if you don’t get this when you go you are doing yourself a disservice. Thank you for the wonderful experience, team!
