Nothing special other than the location and the massive, sprawling covered sidewalk seating area. Good coffee (hopefully they will have the mini-scones on the menu when you do stop by). As you sip and stare at the obvious Armenian presence in the neighborhood, look up this immigrant group's history in Argentina. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Velvet:
I've given this place a few tries, as have many of my friends, and we just can't figure out how they're still in business. Distant, indifferent service, dated decor and just so expensive for food that is the same or better at nearby cafes. View all feedback.
Nice place for a beer and light lunch in the sunny afternoon. We had fried Calamari, which was quite decent and the beer was cold. No English menus and the waiter did not speak English, but we got what we ordered and the service was good, prices quite reasonable.
Skip this place. Don't worry. Good supplies while we eat w door wide open. Server never offered to move us. Unbelievable.
I wanted a good lunch, but I didn't find it here. The Milanesa Napolitano I had was dry. The French fries were good, but overall a disappointing meal. You don't speak English or at least my waiter doesn't. He was nice. The food took a long time.
We were there at different times of the day as it was convenient. This place felt pleasantly old-fashioned. Great outdoor seating area for people. Food is usually good. We had great Omelettes here. The service was okay if you could get him. They seemed to be understated. Once we left after we waited a while to be served.
This place has been around a long time, and it's a great place to stop for a snack, lunch, tostados de miga, media lunas, etc. Nice outdoor seating for when it's warm.
