Argentine friends invited us for dinner in a restaurant next to the Pan Americano Hotel near Obliesco and opposite the Teatro Colon. It is a good old restaurant with a previous review of one of the five major restaurants in Buenos Aires years ago. Today there are many new restaurants that are known, but Tomo 1 still has a top rating. The fresh food and the precise presentation is still great. Elegant, good decor, well-trained waiting staff, wonderful wine list. Great value.
Do you stay somewhere in downtown? Then this place should be on your to-do list. Portions are not huuuge, but you will cost some really interesting things.
The food is excellent and the staff very friendly. Chef took the order himself and discussed decisions. All well prepared and presented. Steaks delicious and desserts excellent. Would definitely try again.
I met friends for dinner here. It was my second time in this restaurant. I had an appetizer, dumplings, and trout for the main course. A bottle of rose wine, and crepes for dessert. It was fantastic and the service here is top notch. While the restaurant is considered pricey for Argentinians, it is shockingly affordable for Americans and Europeans. You would pay many times more for a similar dining experience in the US or the UK. I highly recommend it.
