Love this authentic place frequented by locals in Recoleta. Food was excellent - we had the ribeye steak and the arroz con mariscoes (rice with seafood, which is their version of paella for one person). Our server was great and also very patient despite the fact we couldn't speak English! Highly recommended. View all feedback.

I will give credit to the wine we had, yes. As for the food I had, it was a total disappointment. Ordered cazuela de mariscos which was 280 pesos equivalent to $50. Did not expect hard rubbery frozen like seafood that is usually found on a cheap and nasty seafood pizza in Australia. I had the chorizo which must be a Spanish name for great big porterhouse. It was magnificent. My wife had the T bone and it was just as good. We added fries and a simple salad for a great meal. The house red and white wines were both very good and I also had one beer. The bill was US$60 which I think was awesome.
At El Rincon you are very unlikely to run into other tourists. The restaurant is on a side street and it is visited mostly by locals. It helps if you can speak some Spanish.You can trust the waiter to help you make good choices.The wine list is good and the prices are 'very' good. We shared a wonderful steak, which they call 'Chorizo', but I would identify as a very good New York Strip. They don't ask you how you want it cooked, so if you don't want it rare you would have to ask. (Personally, I would advise you to accept it the way they cook it or choose something else.)The wine to drink with this steak is Malbec from Argentina. No question about that, and there are plenty of good Malbecs offered on the menu.
We were the infamous early diners and tried the food one evening. My friends loved their food with particular attention to the steak which was cooked "juciouso" and tender chicken. The waiter was very attentive and everything came quickly. Wine was pleasant and definitely modest in price. We'll probably return for both location and food
The old restaurants in Buenos Aires used to be like this place, brown wood furnitures, small windows in the front and dark inside. Usually noisy with many conversations beside yours and waiters screaming the order from right to left. No, they don't take note the order from customers on a tablet, not even on a paper, everything is memorized! The menu is tipically argentinian so the beef, asados and any kind of barbecued stuff is delicious. Pastas are old fashioned and full of home made tomato sauce. The spanish tortillas and seafood are also good. Not a 10 in terms of menu but the friendly, relaxed, informal waiters and decoration is fantastic. I really recommend it to try at night with a glass of malbec. You can imagine how the old neighbours used to spend their dinners with close friends in the past in Buenos Aires.
