878 - Buenos Aires

We were told by locals how good this bar was and lived up to the positive recommendations. Great atmosphere and ambience. Good selection of cocktails and drinks with small local dishes that were of good quality to help besides drinking and a good time in lively businesses. Our waitress was particularly helpful Angie helps us patiently get the best drinks and food to meet our taste and nutritional needs. A great find easy (and unhappy) to miss if you are not sure what you are looking for (see for the doorman quietly ready to let you in the otherwise “hidden” opportunity).

My friend is here to speak that have become very popular in many cities. We were in BA, which is no different. We took a taxi to the address and there's no sign, just a doorman standing outside. We were there on the previous side, and we were asked to sit where we wanted. It is a large cave room with several tables and a large bar area. We got menus when we set ourselves. We had already eaten, so we just wanted to drink. However, they serve food if you want to eat. The cocktails were very good, the gin and the tonic I came in a big goat [yes, there was a lot of ice] but it was still great. In the time when we [we were there for about 2 hours] the place was packed - and that was a week night! It is on a side street to get a taxi back to San Telmo, we went to the main road and got one there. It was an interesting experience. I would recommend it.

We visited Buenos Aires twice. Very relaxing room, interesting cocktails, beautiful mood and a 7-9 pm happy hour with special cocktails, beautiful garnished, for 2 for 200 pesos! The beauty is, you can taste two different cocktails. Bartender were kind enough, but not transferred. The menu has many options for appetizers/small plates so everything in a beautiful place to simply hang and regroup before the Buenos Aires nightlife.

878 is a great place for drinks. Pleasant environment, good music, affordable menu. The night I went there, it wasn't too crowded and I could just sit on the bar and watch the bartenders do their magic. Recommended.

A trendy, speakeasy place with no signs outside, it was recommended by a friend. Reservations highly recommended. The selection of drinks was great, and I liked the fact that the barmen and bar-woman names are written in the menu. I had a great Guatemaltecan Rhum 18 YO with dessert. But to start with we had the cocktails, and food was great.
