What Silvana Zamora doesn't like about 1880:
Las mesas muy juntas, dos mozos para unas 40 mesas aproximadas. Pedimos vacio, chorizo, riñones a la provenzal y ensalada mixta, Ensalada minuscula 80 pesos, riñones crudos, vacio crudo, volvio todo a la parrilla, no eramos los unicos, todo volvia a cocinarse mas. Agua, gaseosa, y vino chico, unos 800 pesos.Ambiente decorado con rejunte de cosas viejas, aspecto sucio, no vuelvo View all feedback.
A return visit years ago. Nothing changed with the inside. How old. Good service and steaks as well as we remember. Bife de Lomo cooks perfectly and so delicate. Beautiful location on Defensa away from the main tourist blocks (on Park Lezama). We're gonna eat here again.
We were here for dinner with my wife and a couple of us were on our way. Last time had excellent Lomo I was in Buenos Aires and was looking forward to the same this time. Unfortunately the parrilla from Lomo was. Set the climate for a less than promising culinary experience. Buenos Aires is full of good parrillas, but next time I would choose another one.

From a parilla I expect delicate, tasteful beef. But 1880 didn't quite deliver. First, the plus points: This is a beautiful room with interesting decor; the menu is extensive (although brackets like bife de lomo were not available when we visited); Attention from the waiting staff was appropriate. On the minus side, the steak was far away from delicate and missing taste, we felt pushed from the refrigerator to the grill onto the plate. So we were disappointed, especially as we visited and reviewed excellent parillas here in Buenos Aires at less cost. Cheaper than Puerto Madero, but more expensive than other San Telmo/Barracas parillas we expected better.
The restaurant was highly recommended by locals and they are totally right. Good Pricing, the quality of the food and service are excellent. They offer parrilla and also pasta. You will experience a good atmosphere with a nice decoration and tango music.
