Having read some very good reviews it was high on our list of places to eat in Porto Ottiolu. There wasn’t much atmosphere, but it was obviously a quiet night, we sat in a window seat with a lovely view of the port. The food seemed ok at first, I had a mix of gambas and calamari, with chips. The calamari was average, the chips tasted like they’d come out of the freezer into the deep fat fryer. I had 4 prawns, 3 of which were inedible, they were black and not fit to be served. I told the waiter that I couldn’t eat them, but I was still billed for the whole meal. When questioned, the waiter said that I should expect that of prawns, because that’s how they are! There was no apology, it just seemed like they didn’t care.

We discovered the east coast of Sardinia and we‘re really happy to visit Porto Ottiolu. Small, cozy and the flair we we‘re looking for. Try the Curligiones Sardian speciality No. 1 Some facts: We are a German couple, love food, a nice atmosphere and polite people around us! Let‘s go!

We were seated by an open window with a great view of the harbour. We shared a charcuterie platter for a starter and a pizza. The food, wine and service was impeccable so much so that we returned on two more occasions that week. There is great selection of dishes on the menu and I would recommend trying some of the local dishes. The house wine is also very good and reasonably priced.

Could do with Aioli dip Service was ok although my wife’s sea bass came with head on which is standard) came out a good few minutes before my steak. I ordered fillet steak with red wine sauce . Not sure what cut of meat it was as it was cut a lot thinner that you expect to get in most restaurants and the meat was tasteless . You need to order your sides separately as the dishes did not come with anything else. Overall below average dinning experience which is shame as great location and staff were friendly. Maybe if we returned we would try pasta and pizza as they looked a better option from what we saw around us in the restaurant.
