What User doesn't like about Nicoresti:
Located in a central position in Bucharest, on one of the oldest streets in town, in an old building, the restaurant offers tasty traditional Romanian food. The ambience is old style, like from 60s, service is good, and they offer free WiFi for the customers. View all feedback.
Even if the food was good, they wanted to cheat us. You put more beer and other drinks on the bill we didn't order. They also placed a top that was more than 10% and tried to explain to us that it was mandatory according to the law. We told them it was illegal to pay us a tip that is optional according to the law and they brought us back the extra money when we said we would call the police. None of the employees wanted the details of the order... if we asked what was the sum for what we ate and drunk and how much is the tip on the bill, said the lady, she didn't know and that it was required by law to give her this sum money. It was very dissatisfied for us because we had exactly the same experience 1-2 months ago. At this time we tried to explain to them that giving a tip is optional and only taxes for it was obligatory. But it seems that they have their own way to cheat people they write what they want on the bill and will not cooperate when you confront them). My advice: If you go there, write everything you eat or drink and know that you only pay a tip if you want. Or better... choose a reputable restaurant that respects its customers. I know what I said is very serious, but it is the truth and it is very dissapointing at the same time.
A cozy place with excellent food-very delicious Romanian cuisine-decent, affordable prices. The service was also good, the staff was nice and did their best to please the customers.
This was a great find which unfortunately came at the end of our stay. It is a local restaurant with no pretensions or appeal to tourists. The service is friendly patient with non-Romanian speakers. The menu is great with a good choice of traditional dishes. We went two days running and enjoyed every dish. It’s offal is especially good. The tuica here is good also. We didn’t have the daily menu which was very good value as we wished to try specific dishes but all seemed good value. Nice ‘buzz’ from steady stream of customers.
Good example of plain, good Romanian food! No fancy names or inventions but the food is excellently cooked and tasty. The house wine will not win any great prizes but is an honest red table wine. My family and I went nearly every dinner there for a week, it was far more convenient than to cook for ourselves in the apartment we rented. It is a small restaurant but somehow we always found a table. The staff is friendly, gives good advice and the service is good. I recommend it for casual lunches or dinners.
Excellent food, decent prices, but staff and services are available. arrogant waiter, her only concern was to remind us often that they close at 10:00. I don't recommend it.
