Not the first time here, but impression is consistent. Great food every time. Fantastic service. Awesome atmosphere. And if you're lucky, the random live music. Pity there is no (known) schedule. Was a great place, was… 1. We called at noon to reserve a table near the park, they told us it’s done. When we arrived, by surprise, none of the tables near the park were available. 2. Nice place, excellent location, good atmosphere, very slow food service after one hour waiting and drinks we gave up.
When I made a booking for this evening, I took into account the fact that Gargantua is known in Bucharest as a restaurant (such as to be distinguished from a fast food ,or something of a sort with cheaper meals and lower standards for service). Unfortunately, but they did not live this evening up to this title: the chief 's lack of basic manners in speaking and behavior towards my guests, the fact that everywhere in the location, albeit all of the spaces inside or outside were enclosed, was allowed to smoke, practically overwhelmed the fact that the food was good and the service provided by waiting staff was amiable, prompt and polite. Plus, taking into account the COVID pandemic, there weren 't any social distancing measures at all: the tables were too close one to another, hence the cigarettes smoke easily made the atmosphere hard to breathe and also altered the taste of the food... In conclusion: far too expensive. I do not wish to pay so much to get cigarettes smoke...
This was the third visit in a couple of years, and will be the last. Things are going worse and worse. Plus: View from the veranda to a nice park. Friendly staff, young and proactive. Minus: Dirty glass roof over the veranda. Greasy menu and wine booklets, unchanged from years. Don’t count on the sushi section of the menu posted on the website: this is available only at the other location (Kiseleff). Food: under our expectations. Waiting time: long (45 min). One dish was messed up. Prices: quite high (some of them).
I have visited the location for a business meeting not long ago. The location looks cozy and nice, right in the heart of the city, parking places can be found with some luck, depending on the hour you will visit the place, the food is quite poor and the price for its quality is outrageously expensive. I wouldn't recommend
Great staff, great food, cozy atmosphere. My pasta was fantastic! We had a great dinner, people were very helpful, and everyone was pleased with the food.
