While traveling through to Mississippi, I decided to stop and try the sushi at this restaurant, and it truly exceeded my expectations. I ordered the spicy tuna lunch roll and a dragon roll. The spicy tuna roll was quite good, featuring decent chunks of tuna. I was pleasantly surprised to find a few pieces that included a crunchy element mixed in, which added a nice touch to the flavor. The dragon roll was comparable to what you would find at higher-end sushi places I've visited. I also appreciated that they included fish roe on their sushi, which seems to be a rarity these days with the trend leaning towards more budget-friendly options without roe. Overall, it was a delightful experience!
The sushi was outstanding, and the main course was flavorful. However, the service felt somewhat distant, and my drink was left empty after the main course was served.
The food was ok, restraunt was nice and clean but we eat at a lot of Japanese restraunts and this one was just ok.
I visited Sakura after a doctor's appointment and was welcomed by the manager. I placed a To-Go order for the Sashimi Jo, which cost $26.95 on the menu. However, my card was charged $49.22; while I’m not accusing anyone of wrongdoing, the receipts are clear. The three tuna slices were very small, cut incorrectly, and frozen in the center. The two yellowtail slices were cut properly and of average size. Similarly, the three red snapper pieces were small and cut poorly. The two salmon slices were cut correctly and average in size. I didn't even touch the four krabi sticks, and while the two octopus pieces were a good size and well-cut, someone placed a slice of lemon between them, completely altering the flavor. Overall, this experience was not what I expected and was quite disappointing—overcharged and below par.
On my drive to Mississippi, I decided to stop by Sakura for sushi, and what a pleasant surprise it was! I didn’t have high expectations, but they were completely exceeded. I ordered the spicy tuna lunch roll and a dragon roll. The spicy tuna roll was quite good, featuring decent pieces of tuna. A few pieces even had a crunchy mix that added an unexpected but delightful twist. The dragon roll was comparable to the offerings at some of the better sushi places I've visited. Plus, I appreciated that they included fish roe on their sushi, as it seems many places nowadays skip that in favor of cheaper options.
