My wife and I drove from Fort Worth to dine here, and it was worth the trip for a leisurely meal. Established in 1925, this restaurant is now in its fourth generation, making it a little piece of history as well as a dining destination. The menu offers an impressive variety of meats and dishes. I recommend trying a cold Lone Star beer to go with your meal. We enjoyed some crab claws, fries, and beans. The coleslaw was neither soupy nor bitter, the French fries were piping hot, and the beans were well-seasoned. The meat was fresh, hot, and cooked to perfection. Be sure to check the hours before you head out. Overall, it was a delightful way to end the day.
It's like experiencing a piece of BBQ history! Excellent! The pit-smoked beef and pork ribs are fantastic, paired with a rich, classic brown sauce. The homemade potato salad and fried okra were also delightful. Overall, a truly satisfying meal!
The brisket and onion rings were outstanding, and the patrons truly made the experience special. We visited to watch a football match (UA), and the friendly atmosphere made us feel welcomed, almost like family.
This place is a jewel. I was here several times and the staff is always polite, friendly and super easy to treat. I know some complain about the waiting period, but it's not so long to wait. It is like turtle and rabbit, patience will reward you with perfect looking and tasty food, not something that is cut out at the speed of light that all looks sloppy and inconspicuous.
It is this quaint place that has been up and running since 1925. I can totally imagine it being the hangout place for Aggies once upon a time. The photos on the wall will walk you down the history of Texas A&M. The owners were so friendly and kind enough to show me around the BBQ pits that has been operating since 1939 (I have no idea how they remain there in this Texas heat). If you are in BCS area and want to grab a bite at someplace historic, Martin’s place it is.
