we went there for the first time Monday night. it was fantastic! there were 4 of us, my wife and I together with my cousin and his wife. we had between the four of us 2 of the grilled catfish, the black and the sausage plate. we tried some of each other and it was all delicious. for the side we had something called cody corn (yummy! baked kartoffels, kartoffels, pint beans, ties and fries. that was all! adds a live c... we have made an order, and I guess the ticket was not seen until we were there for picking up. eating was finished 30 minutes later than the original pick-up time. I promised I wouldn't write any criticism unless it was bad, so we're here. the brisket was dry and tasteless as it sat all afternoon under a heat lamp. the ribs were chewing and had no smoke taste at all. the sides were good, new kartoffels and some prett... For our sides, we had something called Cody Corn, which was tasty! It included baked potatoes, pint beans, fries, and some other scrumptious items. The addition of a live country band created a cozy atmosphere that made for a truly enjoyable experience. We stayed until the very end. We’ll be driving to Bryan in June, and we will definitely return. I can't wait!
1. Visit for a birthday dinner. Beautiful surroundings. Good server. Big corn bread cup. Cold beer. Cream corn was great. My wife bakes potato so very well and so was my mash potatoes. Now my wife and I both ordered the 16 oz ribeye medium well. It was perfectly cooked, but mine was quite rare to medium rare. I pointed out the differences in our steaks to the waitress that was apologetic. She asked if I wanted to send her back, what I rejected. I don't trust to return food unless I speak to the boss or manager first. My wife Steak tasted I?m sure, my did to those who like it, rarely cooked. Overall my wife enjoyed her dinner and mine, without the steak was very good. I'm sure we'll try again.
Top-of-the-line creamed corn (CodyCorn) and huge portions of the veggies. Moderate sizes of forgettable brisket, sausage, and ribs. Nice local options for those looking for table service, but not quite to the weigh-it-at-the-counter standard.
Was very disappointed about this experience. I'm not sure why they have such great reviews but it just makes me think that these people have never had great bbq. The brisket was so dry and old, had no flavor. The ribs were small, dry, and boney, very little meat on them. The sausage was ok but after the brisket and ribs were so bad this was just a small consolation. The potato salad seemed store bought, not homemade at all. Pinto beans and fried okra were fair. The creamed corn was either cooked too early that day or the day before because it was old and dry. The service was good and that's the only reason for two stars. Otherwise, save your money because this bbq is definitely not worth it.
Steak was excellent as always. Bacon, cheese, and ranch covered fries were a gluttonous good time. The peach cobbler and cinnamon ice cream just about put me in a coma. Man, it was ALL good!
