What User doesn't like about La Terrasse du Morclan:
Simple arrêt lors de notre randonnée heureusement...La serveuse nous demande 24 € pour 2 cafés, 2 crêpes sucrées et 50 cl d'eau, tout en cachant la note... lorsque je lui dis que je pense qu'elle fait une erreur elle me dit de suite "oui c'est vrai" et rembourse la différence conséquente mais toujours sans la note... bizzare. Je déconseille vivement, il y a tellement de buvettes d'alpage sympa en été plutôt que ce se... View all feedback.
Place is really not bad, quite nice. Staff is really kind an older man behind the bar, the server behind the food counter. taste of the food is ok. but portions are ridiculously small for very very high prices. 13 euros for a store...bought sausage and fries. 15 euros for an incredibly small bowl of onion soup and a piece of bread. 10 euros for a plate of “charcuterie and cheese” but the picture and the reality are totally different see below) . same with the filling in the panini. Really a rip off charhging maximum prices for miniscule portions. Clearly they just want to maximize profits. if you want better quality price just take the telecabines back down to town just around the corner from the restaurant . the dishes in the picture are all 13 to 15 euros. the panini is 6.50 but i just show the scarcity of what’s in it. and the picture of the sign with the meat cheese dish is followed by the reality .
Skiing past La terrasse du Morclan, my girlfriend and I stopped for a drink. My gf chose a Pepsi Light and I a hot chocolate. So far so good. However, on raising my cup I noticed an awful smell. Well, I took a sip: undrinkable....So I returned it to the girl who had served it. She said that there was nothing wrong with their hot chocolate. I asked for a coffee instead, and with a smile she told me that would cost another 3.70 Euros. In summary: nice location and nice looking place but beware of their suspect goods (esp. Chocolat Chaud! and somewhat uncaring staff.
We were 7 girls on a hen do holiday in Chatel during summer and visited La Terrasse du Morcelan several times. We often went up and had coffees and beers and stayed for hours playing cards on the terrace with amazing views. We had lunch...several times and the food quality was excellent. The salads particularly good on a hot summer's day! The staff were very friendly and helpful and wifi for our phones was a bonus. Will definitely revisit again and check it out during winter! The prices are in line with everything in the mountains during peak season.
Stopped there to have lunch. We were expecting fast food quality food at reasonable cost but the experience was a disaster. The good: location The bad: queued for 40 minutes in ski garments. There was so little space people were pushing from all sides... all exposed food looked old and not good fruit basket with rotten apples fries were fried in extremely old oil and tasted awful chopped steak tasted very strange and was red and cold in the inside staff lacked basic service eduction I ate a few bites and stopped, my son got about one third through the plate before he was disgusted. Conclusion: never again.
This restaurant offers them everything they expect and desire, from a ski station restaurant. the inner and the terrace are both large, so they find a place in most cases available (provided they avoid the 12:45 13:30 aile hour). the self-service part...is a large selection of geared, in several price classes offered. they can easily have free water on their table, which is not always given to such places. the prices are typical of ski station restaurants, although the starters look overpriced. the service was friendly and helpful.
