Let’s start with the positive: the setting is nice and warm in a beautifully restored building. The food is good in both quality and quantity with delicious flavours. However, it’s noticeable that guests who are non Italian or German speaking are treated differently by our waiter A. and it comes across as significantly less friendly and mannered. We in a group of 4 and one 3 year old asked for a bottle of sparkling water and one glass of tap water for the child but were served a bottle of sparkling and a full bottle of still water €5 while there’s a water jug, “Krug Wasser” of €3 on the menu . But whatever. But then in minutes we were provided unasked 8 small slices of bread in a basket with one small Green filling. “From the kitchen” the waiter said so we thought it was an amuse. In between our starter and following courses, the empty bread plates were not collected and the cutlery not properly replenished on their holders. Every time the waiter came it was without a smile or expressed friendliness, it was cold, direct and experienced as unpleasant. This while to other guests he was speaking to and serving in Italian and German, he was friendly, laughing, and continuously on top of them. At the end, when we got the bill, it included 4 x €2 for the 8 slices of bread “From the Kitchen”…. Right… . It’s not about the money, it’s about the practice, and how it’s brought and communicated. While we’re regularly visiting the valley and area both in Summer and Winter, we will not come back to Rischon anytime soon and currently would not recommend it provided the several other great options around. Disappointing for now.
