The guests all commente... read more We visited Madhatters for our wedding and were blown away. The food, service, atmosphere and attention to detail was absolutely perfect. The guests all commented on the delicious food and drinks. All guests’ dietary needs were carefully and kindly met ensuring that everyone had the most wonderful time. A huge thank you to Emily for all of her hard work on the day and to Nygel for all of his preparation. You both made our special day very memorable. We stoped here on a slightly damp early afternoon on our way to Bakewell Matlock as I am coeliac so require gluten free food I’d done a quick tripadvisor search... read more We stoped here on a slightly damp early afternoon on our way to Bakewell Matlock as I am coeliac so require gluten free food I’d done a quick tripadvisor search as we headed up the M1 WOW, what a find !! The owner Nygel was really lovely as it was a quiet time we managed to have a really good chat with him. even got some tips on places to see on our holiday. The tea cake were superb we both had the gluten free toffee sponge gateau it was absolutely wonderful and not too sweet. Nygel confirmed it was home made as no after symptoms definitely fully gluten free. So lovely in fact we took the rest away with us !! Would definitely recommend to ant coeliac or those requiring gluten free treats !!! If we get a chance we’ll be back !!

As it was a bit later in the afternoon, the shop was quiet and the owner Nygel was able to sit and chat with us as we tucked into our wonderful Gluten Free toffee sponge cake. What a lovely man: we could have chatted with him for hours! We eventually had to leave to head on to our destination, but not before purchasing the remainder of the cake to take with us because it was home made and oh so scrummy! Nygel, you made us feel most welcome and we hope we can get back up to visit you again in the near future! Most definitely one to visit if you are in the vicinity.

Recently my six year old daughter attended a birthday... read more I've been going to madhatters for years and have always had top notch food and drinks in a fun atmosphere. Recently my six year old daughter attended a birthday tea party at Madhatters, she suffers from 3 serious food allergies so I contacted Nygel before the party to see if I needed to bring our own food (which is what a lot of places ask us to do). Nygel took the time to go through all her allergies with me on the phone and was so lovely and understanding, reassuring me that he could cater for her. Amazing. When we got there Nygel completely blew me away with his considerate menu, he'd made everything the same so she wouldn't feel singled out or made to feel different at all and for the very first time, my daughter was able to just tuck in to the party food without having to check everything with me first. She was so so excited! It might sound like a silly thing to some people but for a child with serious allergies being able to eat the same things as your friends without having to constantly check that it is safe had a HUGE impact on her yesterday. After having a chat with Nygel yesterday, his views on inclusivity for allergies nearly made me cry! I honestly can't thank Nygel and the team at Madhatters enough, you provided a very special experience for my little girl and went above and beyond to make her feel included.
