Ashoka Indian
Description
In the vibrant world of Indian cuisine, one restaurant stands out for its diverse experiences, both commendable and disappointing. While numerous diners praise the delicious buffet, especially the tender Lamb Rogan Josh, others express dissatisfaction with underwhelming main dishes and inconsistent quality, particularly in takeout orders. Pricing tends to be higher than nearby competitors, leading some to question value for money. Despite the mixed reviews regarding flavors and service, many appreciate the welcoming atmosphere and attentive staff. Overall, while some experiences sparkle with culinary delight, others leave diners longing for a more authentic taste of India.

I went for a Christmas meal with some old colleagues, one of whom lives nearby abd recommended the place. We booked a tabke for 7pm on Friday 12th December so near to Christmas but bot fully in to the Christmas season. The pkace had a few tables taken up at the start but got busier as the night went on eith a mix of 2 or 3 covers to a table of about 8 people. The service was good and they didnt hover or keep coming over. When you wanted their help you called them. This was nice as we iften fell in to long chatting periods and to have been interrupted by the waiters woild have broken the flow of the evening. The food is cooked freshly to irder so some bits come out before others but I would rather that than gave the stuff that was ready going cold while the ither stuff was prepared. The whole service asoect had a nice, casual but effective mood. The food was incredible. I had the chicken tikka started, lovely and moist meat and souced perfectly. I then chose a recommended dish that is one of many house specials, the Garlic Chilli Chicken Tawa. Lovely big pieces of chicken in a rich, medium souced sauce complemented by a chicken tikka naan bread. Lush! I had a couple of pints of diet coke and a large white coffee to finish with. My friends generally had a few pints of beer and we split the bill with a ressonable tip and it came to £36 each. Very good value. There's a parking area out the front of the parade of shops plus roadside parking along the street itself. I have told wifey I will take ger there for a neal soon ideally before Christmas
Went last night to get an indian waiting time 20 minutes but after got it, went to eat it and the chicken was still pink and has given and an my boyfriend food poisoning! absolutely awful. won’t be getting a curry from here again!
Only half my order turned up then had to wait another 20 minutes for the rice to turn up and that was freezing cold must have just come out of fridge wouldn't get a takeaway from there again
Really good for a suburban restaurant. Yummy curries and Movenpick Ice cream! Being picky onion salad could have been fresher with more herb but overall was very good. I had the prawn shaslick ...yummy. Wish they offered a rose cremant I would have scoffed that but maybe just as well they didn't.....
It’s such a shame because this place is normally pretty good but tonight I have ordered food and still waiting a hour and a half later considering it’s only 5/10 minutes down the road from me bizzare to me how u can mess this up I paid £50 for basically nothing such bad service I phoned the place and a gentleman comes to the phone and is pretty rude and rudely hung up at the end after saying yeah it’s on the way and it’s then been another 20/30 minutes is ridiculous and now are not answering the phone as I am still currently waiting for my food I have now rung 3 times with no one to answer the phone it’s ridiculous and tbh quite rude and not how u deal with customers !
