My GF and I recently went here for our Anniversary dinner. I can tell you that we will be back before our next anniversary. We arrived and I was surprised at how low-key the entrance outside looked. I don't know why but I guess I expected something alittle more flashy than what it was: a drab awning with a large red-painted flower planter with the name of the restaurant onthe front. To be totally honest, it's so unassuming that I almost drove right past it. But no matter; some of the best books arecontained within boring covers. Walking inside gives a completely different impression however, and I immediately liked theplace. Large windows, bright lights, very clean, and enough space to walk around but not so open that it becomes weird. Themusic volume was that so you could hear the other person. A few large, decorative animal skulls are artfully placed throughout. It was an excellent first impression. The food though. We tried a few appetizers and a couple entrees and literally everythingwas scrumptious, and I don't use that word often. There wasn't a single ingredient on any plate that I disliked or seemedsub-par. In addition, the service was fantastic. The staff was attentive but not annoying, nor did they ignore us. Is it alittle pricey? I guess but the quality is absolutely there. I've paid more for less at many places and realistically, nothing onthe menu seems upcharged or outrageously expensive. It all seemed pretty fair to me. In short, don't judge it by its cover. Theatmosphere is great, the service is great, the food is truly excellent. Can't wait to go back.
We had Wedge Salad. Which was very good. A different herb dressing with just a couple crumbles of blue cheese. Diced cakes piece of thick bacon. Then we had the braised meatball which were moist and flavorful. The polenta and bourdin cheese was anice addition. Then we had the Braised Short Ribs that had wonderful mix of tantalizing flavors. Short rib, creamy polenta, sundried tomatoes, broccolini with a hearty sauce. Excellent flavor combinations!
Incredible experience! The food was creative and delicious. The staff was so nice. Emma was our waitress and she was awesome and very helpful! Loved the creativity in the cocktails the flavors were fun and unusual. My husband got the fernet cocktail withthe maple bubbles (Gold Minor's Float) and I loved it and I don't usually love fernet. I had the Gettin' that For Sho cocktailand it was great. Unusual flavors, beautiful color and very well balanced drink (though the waitress did warn us people eitherlove or hate it so might not be for everyone). We had the steak tartare to start and it was perfect. My husband doesn't usuallylike tartare and even he said he'd get it again. So tender and flavorful. Also, their homemade bread and butter they serve is sogood! Hard to stop eating it so we could save space for the main event. For dinner, we opted for the seasonal dishes and wow!The Mexican corn gnudi was soooooo good. Creamy and perfect. Little pillows of delight. We also shared the shrimp and the flavorwas excellent. The little fried noodle cakes that come with it were divine and a lovely texture add to the dish. For dessert wetried both the passion fruit pana cotta and the key lime cheesecake. Pana cotta was so flavorful. Loved, loved, loved. The keylime cheesecake was maybe the worst dish of the experience though it was still really good. I will say we really struggled totaste any lime in the cheesecake. If it had been called coconut cheesecake, it would've been more appropriate. Again it wasdelicious but compared to everything else we ate, it wasn't quite as good. Can't wait to come back! Obsessed with thecreativity and the flavor. So good.
If I could give this place another star I certainly would. Our evening started with our incredible waiter Austin. He was incredibly friendly and knew the menu well. Not to discount his incredible customer service but the chefs made his job so easy. Our steaks were cooked to perfection, the Brussel sprouts were amazing, the twice baked Mac and cheese was just incredible, andmy H&A Amber beer was just delightful. With a wait staff that routinely came over to clear dishes, refill drinks, offersuggestions of the menu, or to even make small talk, the entire experience is something my wife and I are not used to. We'vealready decided when we return in the summer that we will certainly be stopping by Hickory and Ash again. This place has set astandard I fear no one will be able to compete with. Can't wait to return here! I also grabbed the pbnj desert to go, didn'teven make it home. Highest praises to the staff here, great job and keep at it!
Went to this restaurant in the Arista district in Broomfield for a dinner on a Tuesday evening. Seated without any wait and the place has a nice, cozy, upscale atmosphere. Our food arrived in 10-15 minutes. Ordered the braised short ribs and the gnudi -both very nicely presented and very delicious! Friendly and attentive staff. Prices are a bit on the higher side, but stillreasonable. Great place for a date night or anniversary dinner. On-street parking or in a lot adjacent to restaurant.Recommended!
