I have never walked out on a meal before. There was half an hours difference between mine and my partners meal. He ordered the steak with mushroom sauce that arrived with no sauce and two half champignons on top, give or take 30 minutes after he had eaten (after checking up twice) my meal arrived a rubbery looking piece of 'crumbed' barramundi. One mouthful and I couldn't stomach the rest. Truly awful food and the po... View all feedback.

Ordered my food to be collected but waitress took down wrong room number so an hour later, when I phoned to find out what the delay was, told food had been ready for 15 minutes. I asked for a fresh meal as my dinner of fish had been sitting in a polystyrene bowl for all that time. Meal was lovely when I got it.
The rib eye steak has got to be one of the best I've had, soft and tender with just the right amount of texture to make it a medium rare cooked steak. The green pepper sauce was a delight also. Highly recommend.
Went here whilst staying at the hotel and for the price of the food I would expect better service. You have to order at the bar and the lady taking my order seemed disinterested. When paying 40 dollars for a steak - I would expect frindliness and even table service at that price. You could not even get them to bring a drink to your table even though it was very quiet. I would suggest going elsewhere unless your staying there and feeling lazy.
Four of us had dinner at this restaurant. Two ordering the Cajun Chicken, one the Seafood Fettuccini and the other the Beef Stir fry. The Cajun Chicken was an enormous breast of chicken and so dry it was close to being inedible (maybe they started cooking it in 1861) - not to mention it was served with a pepper sauce (what happened to the Cajun part??) with nearly cold vegetables. The person on the table next to us, had also ordered this dish and when he heard we had as well....he just laughed and said we would be sorry....never have truer words been spoken. We ended up sending both dishes back and asked for a refund (which we received). The Seafood Fettuccini, had four pieces of seafood in the bowl, the rest was just sauce and pasta - it was stated that this was not an enjoyable dish and it went largely uneaten. Lucky for dinner no. 4 - the Beef Stir fry was declared as good. One OK dish out of four - for me is not good enough and warrants a poor rating, it would have been a terrible rating had it not been for the waiting staff. Also, seeing the staff try to find where to deliver meals was quite amusing, as several walked up and down for some time looking for badly printed table numbers (this was outside and the lighting was dim) but table numbers on blue backgrounds - I felt sorry for the waiting staff. In general - an evening dinner to forget and this person will never return to 1861 as it was the worst meal we had in Broome.
