Food was great and the ambience of the place is fantastic. However, on the night we where there, they might had been short on staff, as the service was extremely slow and we where confronted with a server with an attitude when we politely asked about of food after 25 minutes of wait. We can understand peak hours, short staffing issues, etc. we are reasonable people, so please don 't annoy your customers with showing them an attitude! a simple I 'm sorry, we are short of staff today would had defused the situation. Instead, we left the restaurant with a bitter-sweet taste in our mouths...
Friendly staff and great ambiance. The service was fantastic and the menu had a nice selection of dishes in addition to the daily specials
My sister and I searched for somewhere with ambience and easy to find location for 2 sets of cousins coming from Europe-this was it! They held our table for 8 people, made food accommodations and took a really great picture of us all to boot! Oddly enough we all ordered burgers-delicious, and a minor mistake on the chef's part was remedied with beverage comps! Live music trio playing in the bar area and a delicious cocktail while I waited for my relatives to arrive definitely made me feel that I chose the right place!
Good food and service. We came at 1:30 and were able to get the one table remaining. By the time we left there were several tables available. If possible come for a later lunch

We were there for lunch this time. We had dinner at Bar Tabac many times before and have always left happy so we figured lunch could not be any less, and we were right. We were four with a 3yr old and had ordered all different plates. All arrived after a short wait, well presented and well prepared. The perfectly seared tuna in the salade nicoise was sitting on a fresh bed of greens and other fresh accompaniments, the hamburger was cooked a perfect medium rare and served with some nice crispy and tender french fries, not greasy at all, the baked eggs with feta cheese was very tasty and moist, and they had nicely substituted the ham in my Croque Madame for some nice ripe slices of tomatoes, as requested. The Croque Madame was done with a nice sharp cheese and stayed crisp and not soggy! Thank you for a great lunch! The staff was very friendly and attentive, as always! Merci pour un bon dejeuner en bonne compagnie!
Very pleasant eating experience. Lively crowd, food was very good. Try and snag a table outside for people watching
We absolutely love Bar Tabac. As fans of French culture, we find this spot to be laid-back and enjoyable, with great food that reminds us of certain places in Paris. We'll definitely be returning soon!

The appetizers at this restaurant for lunch were fantastic, and they paired perfectly with the delicious cocktails.
Great place for French casual food atmosphere. Went there 3+ times, got steak frites, charcuterie board once. Recommend! Wish they would serve fresh baguette instead of rye bread with certain dishes though.
If you happen to be in the Boerum Hill area I would stop by and grab the salmon burger. It was juicy, lemony and super fresh. The calamari was also very well done, crispy and the sauce that comes with it was tangy and mildly spicy. I was not the biggest fan of the charcuterie board we got. The meats were regular cuts of deli meat and a patee that was good but I have no idea what it was made from. I still ate it though- it’s an acquired taste. I wouldn’t recommend it but if you’re in need to grab something to share then that’s a good idea.
I really enjoyed the atmosphere at the bar, and both the moules frites and spicy margaritas were delicious. Unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired. Our first bartender, who was wrapping up their shift, didn’t communicate with us or the new bartender, which led to a frustrating wait without any assistance. The new bartender was friendly and mixed a fantastic drink, but we still faced some issues. We encountered similar problems with another server later on. On a positive note, the food was excellent. I'm hoping this was just a one-time hiccup with the service, and I'm open to giving it another shot. I'll update my review after that visit.

I went with a couple of girlfriends for dinner on a rainy weeknight. A beautiful glass of Bordeaux, some shared appetisers was a lovely start to the meal (the fried calamari was light and not oily or rubbery with a delightful piquant marinara sauce). The coq au vin was rich and comforting on a bed of mash with green beans and the mussels had a white wine and garlic sauce that was worth drinking afterwards! The waitstaff were so attentive but not at all obtrusive. One of the best dining experiences I have had in NYC. Highly recommended!!
Loved the tuna tartare....the best I ever had! I recommend to try the rose ' wine Corsica! It is delicious and dangerously 'light '. Good service. I will for sure go there again!

Bar Tabac is so awesome! The staff here are so kind and the food is excellent! Go see them for brunch, order the avocado toast a mimosa!
Good happy hour ? live music and rock solid menu! Got the shrimp and they were nice
The food is excellent, the ambiance is fantastic, and the staff is wonderful! This place is definitely a must-visit in Brooklyn.
Absolutely amazing! First and foremost, the food is outstanding. The portion sizes are generous, and everything is freshly made and incredibly delicious. We ordered the croque monsieur and the Niçoise salad—the tuna was exquisite and perfectly seared. As if that weren't enough, there was live music, reasonably priced cocktails, and a fantastic atmosphere. I can't wait to go back!
I absolutely adore this place. I've only visited for drinks, but I made sure to return. The cozy bar has a delightful ambiance that reminds me of French tabacs (which is fitting given the name). The staff is friendly, the bartender is charming, and I highly recommend trying the Cobble Side cocktail—a gin and tonic with basil.

Bar Tabac is one of the last true French bistros around, and it delivers every time. The food is authentic and full of flavor, the wine selection is excellent, and the service is always on point. The atmosphere is lively yet relaxed — it feels like being transported straight to Paris without leaving Brooklyn. What else can you ask for? A real neighborhood gem and a must-visit for anyone who loves French cuisine. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $20–30
