Incredible spot for tasty bagels. Went on a Saturday morning and there was no line. Placed my order with the salty, no nonsense lady and received one of the better lox sandwiches I’ve had around this part of town. Bagel was fresh, flavorful, and a perfect size. Cream cheese was thick and tasty. Lox was cold, and fresh, and well portioned. Coffee is solid. 10/10 View all feedback.
What Caroline Matthes doesn't like about Shelsky’s Brooklyn Bagels:
Incredible. The funky spicy tuna on a gluten free sesame bagel was so good that I came back the next day for a repeat. Plus the woman at the counter was such a delight and offered excellent suggestions. Would highly recommend. View all feedback.
Shelsky's is always amazing. The only reason I can think of that it is rated lower than other places in the area is that it's a little pricier? But it costs more because they have all sorts of delicious combo sandwiches, like the Turboff that I got today (lox and baked salmon salad on a bagel with horseradish cream cheese! The only issue is that they have all these inventive bagel sandwiches but they display their menu on TV screens that flash between different parts of the menu too quickly to actually read what's in all the options!

Breakfast sandwiches are all great, especially the scrapple egg and cheese with maple syrup. Never had a bagel I didn't like, it's also nice to have a real bialy to mix it up sometimes. Pastrami lox and whitefish salad are also very good. 2021 edit: Scrapple no longer on the menu, pastrami egg and cheese is my new go to. Top notch!
Damn good Whole Wheat, Pumpernickel Bagels; very pleasantly surprised; hard to find LEGIT New York Bagels; these definitely are!
A really fantastic bagel with smoked fish that tastes fresh and delicious. I only can't give them 5 stars because i believe murray's is a better bagel and mt. Kisko in NY is the best smoked fish on earth. But if you are in brooklyn, the sable sandwich is a WOW and the Salmon one (member of the tribe) is very very good.
