This was the last bar I drank at before sheltering in place. I came alone, waiting for my girlfriend to come home from work. I'd worked up a sweat, having stuffed my backpack with potatoes and cans of tuna from a grocery store several blocks away. I'd then wandered for several blocks in search of a place to have a drink and unwind for an hour or two. I was glad to find a dive to rest at. A cold drink really hit the spot. It's a day I remember more vividly than most. There was a certain giddiness in the air, the anticipation that something novel and unprecedented was coming our way very soon. It was a strange and special feeling, one that will always be tied to this place. It was a fine bar to have a drink at before the world changed forever.
