Reviews summary

Nestled in Park Slope, Ottava is a sunlit, laid-back neighborhood restaurant known for wood-fired pizzas, inventive small plates and bold, spirit-forward cocktails. The airy dining room and ample outdoor seating create a stylish, welcoming vibe, and bartenders can be outstanding. However, service quality is inconsistent—patrons report understaffing, slow attention, rushed last calls and occasional temperature discomfort. Some dishes can be underseasoned and wine is on the pricey side. Recommended for drinks and pizza lovers, but expect variable hospitality.

Was Mira Ciganek at Ottava a mag?

Overall, a pleasant experience. We tried the chicken salad, tuna tartare, and potato pizza. The presentation was beautiful, though the dishes seemed to lack seasoning or sauce. Aside from that, the service and atmosphere were excellent. View all feedback.

What Brandi Yu dislikes about Ottava:

Nice staff. The pizza is woodfired. The wine is over $50 a bottle. I got the fish which was delicious, but I finished my meal by taking my daughter?s uneaten pizza crust and sopping up all of the sauce. Next time I would choose a pizza as that is theirspecialty. No bread while you wait. View all feedback.

I saw a recent post about Ottava and thought it looked like a nice cocktail spot to check out.I went on a Thursday lunch date with my fiancee and ordered a couple of their specialty cocktails and the flatbread. In terms of cocktails: the menu is very specialized and caters to more spirit-forward enjoyers. Many of the drinks contained two liqueurs on top of the base spirit, which is ok to some, but I’m not a fan so I took a while to order to see what cocktail would best suit my tastes (1 base spirit fruit/herbs instead of liqueurs).Whatever I ended up choosing was too spirit-forward and too bitter for my taste— I should’ve read the ingredients more carefully. My fiancee ordered a pineapple cocktail, which was very sweet, but more refreshing than mine. We’ll need to give this bar another shot with different drinks since the ambience is a gorgeous sunlit room.

Best place for exceptional wine and authentic pizza. It's been our Hangout for years. Always love the seats by the window!

A laid back neighborhood spot with a simple, yet well formed menu. A subdued elegance with plenty of outdoor seating too. Challenge your taste buds and your tooth'ly skills with the marinated olives: on the pit, and sumptuously meaty...yummm.

I became interested in this restaurant after taking a stroll in the park nearby. The ambiance is spacious and inviting. For a drink, I tried the Salers Moon, which is a mix of Aperol, prosecco, apéritif, and grapefruit. It was quite refreshing in the heat, though a bit on the sweet side, but the portion was generous. A special mention to a recent reviewer—rather than ordering their pizza, I opted for the burrata as an appetizer. It was a unique choice, as I had never encountered burrata wrapped in baked pizza dough before. The dish was served on a bed of nettle puree, accompanied by Calabrian chili sauce, caper berries, tomato confit, and olives (which I removed since I'm not a fan). I was very pleased with this dish—it felt much like a deconstructed pizza and was perfect for one person. I would definitely return to enjoy their beautiful decor.

I don't usually write negative reviews after spending many years in the service industry. However, this is the third time I've dined here and experienced subpar service. The constant excuse is that they are understaffed, but the only reason we returned is that the food is good. Unfortunately, we won't be coming back this time. Being understaffed is one thing, but completely ignoring customers, making poor choices, and providing bad service is inexcusable. Today, they were indeed understaffed again, and it was particularly busy due to the weather. If you run a restaurant with outdoor seating, it's quite easy to check the weather forecast and plan accordingly by scheduling more staff. 1. We sat for 15 minutes after being seated before anyone acknowledged us. It might have been even longer! We were seated next to two tables that were being served, which made it clear that the staff chose to ignore us as they walked by repeatedly without so much as a word. A simple apology saying they would be with us shortly would have sufficed. Instead, I had to get up and walk to the bar to fetch a water bottle for our party. 2. The restaurant was freezing, and everyone was wearing their jackets. When I asked if they could adjust the temperature, they acknowledged that the air conditioning was on but claimed there was nothing they could do about it. 3. Our drinks sat at the bar while the bartender served tables right next to us, completely overlooking our drinks. Our server also passed by the bar several times without picking them up. Anyone familiar with the service industry understands the saying, "full hands in and full hands out." We were literally sitting next to the tables the bartender was serving, so there were multiple opportunities for them to deliver our drinks. Instead, I ultimately had to ask for them. 4. In another example of poor decision-making and service, my mom requested a cup of coffee, and when it was finally brought to the table, it was barely warm. Overall, the lack of attention and decision-making in this restaurant diminishes the good food they serve. I truly hope they address these service issues, but we won't be returning.

I ordered the arancini, burger, and chocolate mousse. They don't accept reservations, but we arrived early and found plenty of seating available, both indoors and outdoors. By the time we left, the indoor area was mostly full. Both the food and service were great!
