My wife, in-laws, and I ventured out of the city last night in search of an authentic mom-and-pop Italian restaurant, and we couldn’t have been happier with our choice. The food was amazing, and the Caesar salad was the best I’ve ever had. When we asked our server—who happened to be the chef’s son—about it, he simply replied, "eeeeeh, right? It's our secret." To top off our three-hour tour of Brooklyn’s Ortobello's, we enjoyed a delicious ricotta cheesecake and tiramisu for dessert. It was the perfect ending to a wonderful meal!
My favorite food. I LOVE the food! While the wait time is very long because its all fresh and the cook(owner) has one helper its worth the wait.
We were a group of 28 celebrating my grandmother's 97th birthday, and the restaurant did an excellent job of serving everyone at the same time. The food was fantastic, and the service was outstanding. The waitstaff was friendly, and the portions were generous. We couldn't finish everything, so we have leftovers for dinner!
I used to visit this place at least once a week when we lived in Brooklyn 35 years ago, and I’m thrilled to see it’s still here, just as I remember, now run by their son! The food is just as fantastic as it was back then! The entrees are large enough to share between two people, and the appetizers and white house wine were delightful. The rigatoni with vodka sauce was incredible, as was the breaded clam sauce! We quickly devoured the homemade ricotta cheesecake before I even had a chance to take a picture—it was fresh, soft, and fluffy! Bravo to them for maintaining such high standards!
Our entire group loved every dish we ordered. I've been a regular for over 10 years, and this place never fails to impress. The staff is fantastic, and since it’s a small venue, be sure to make a reservation! You won’t regret it! If you're a cheesecake lover, this is how cheesecake should genuinely taste. You won't leave feeling hungry! I can't wait for my next visit!
