We reserved a table for three for myself, my dear frie... read more We visited Olmstead on day one of our NYC trip and we talked about how great the meal was everyday after. We reserved a table for three for myself, my dear friend and my seven year old daughter. We were greeted by a warm host and brought to a table against the living wall with a direct view of the kitchen. I am a sucker for an open kitchen and watching the magic from my seat did not disappoint. We ordered a few Mocktails and a few Cocktails, both of which were really good! We ordered a lot of food to share, eight items in total. WOW. The food was outstanding. Form the plates to the plating to the flavor, you could tell that each dish was prepared with excellent ingredients and with that secret ingredient, love. We immensely enjoyed the Smores dessert outside over the personal tabletop fire. Our server was knowledgable and kind without being overbearing and gave us space and time to enjoy our meal. I will say that after reading some of the bad reviews, I was nervous about what kind of experience we would have. As a person who eats out often and pays attention to every detail, I realize that many of those negative reviews were made by people who walked into a place that they did not understand and simply could not enjoy the meal due to that fact. Olmstead is a chef driven seasonal restaurant doing great things. Do not hesitate to enjoy a meal here alone or with friends. I will be back next time I am in the area. Was so sad to hear it’s closing so came back one last time to enjoy the seasonal menu. Absolutely loved the food and can’t go wrong with: grilled scallops with blueberry and corn, grilled chicken, carrot crepe, and the squash rings. And omg will be thinking about that garlic leek sauce and the sourdough bread for ages to come : Seriously going to miss this spot around the neighborhood Price per person: $50–100 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

The... read more You had me at S 'mores Talk about nostalgia! Ok, let 's start from the beginning! From the moment we arrived at Olmsted, we knew we would be in good hands. The railroad style intimate restaurant boasts a lively ambiance in a yet intimate setting. We were seated right in front of the action, where the modest yet mighty kitchen quickly sent out some of the tastiest, innovative, and well crafted dishes, along with refreshing cocktails to match. We got to meet the chef/owner, who was on site himself, bringing his creations to life along with his team of chefs it reminded me a bit of the show The Bear, which, if you haven 't yet seen, is worth checking out! For cocktails, we had the Snap Pee—a gin based drink that was creamy, velvety, and refreshing, making it the perfect summer drink to indulge in on a hot summer day. We had the Rhubarb — a vodka and bourbon fusion cocktail, and the Carrot — a mezcal, carrot, and lime blend — that prepared us for the dishes to come. All the cocktails were delicious and refreshing, so you can 't go wrong here! They also have a fantastic wine menu. I loved how the food menu was divided into three sections: Snacks, Appetizers, and Mains. We tried a few dishes from each section. For snacks, we had Sourdough Bread accompanied by a green garlic hollandaise sauce. The sauce was rich and creamy, with tangy flavors that lingered in your taste buds —my favorite! We also tried the Chicken Liver Mousse, which, to my surprise, came with a side of pickled green strawberries. I had never had pickled strawberries before, so this was an unexpected and surprising treat! The strawberries tasted like pickles, and the mousse was light and airy. The combo provided just enough acidity and balance to the dish. From the appetizer section, we had the Kale and Crab Rangoon and the Summer Squash Som Tom. Both appetizers were delicious in very different ways. The Kale and Crab Rangoon was crunchy yet fluffy, and the crab melted in your mouth in a dream like, savory way, while the Summer Squash Som Tom felt very light and refreshing, featuring shaved zucchini, herbs, and a fantastic Thai vinaigrette. The Cauliflower Okonomiyaki is also worth a try! The warm dish reminded me of the Spanish tortas my mother used to make on Sunday mornings. We had an amazing dinner, but my favorite part was dessert! We opted for the S 'mores, and to our surprise, we were led to a lovely patio area at the back of the restaurant, where we sat alfresco with a mini roasting pit, a bar of Hershey 's chocolate, and marshmallows. The setting was the perfect way to end our Brooklyn adventures as we DIY 'ed our S 'mores under a canopy of Brooklyn stars. Meal type: Dinner Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Everything was delicious but quite heavy, with most dishes being fried. Even the vegetable option was fried, so I would have appreciated some lighter, fresher choices to balance the menu. This place seems more like a wine bar than a full restaurant. The food was very flavorful, but I didn’t feel great afterward. The lobster crackers were a standout, and our waiter’s explanation of how they were made was fascinating. I’d definitely return for the wine and when I’m not too hungry.

The highlights: impeccable service, unbelievable duck, incredibly creative dishes, and fresh ingredients. On the downside: $14 for "lobster" crackers with hollandaise sauce but no real lobster, $12 for an excellent but very small bread service of just two rolls, and limited vegetable options on the menu. Overall, it was a solid experience but fell a bit short of the hype. Rating: 4.2/5.

Joe provided o... read more Olmsted offers an incredible experience from start to finish. The atmosphere is stunning, and the staff is exceptionally organized and attentive. Joe provided outstanding service, explaining each dish as it was served and ensuring we were well cared for throughout our meal. The menu features divine selections—highly recommend the scallops and shrimp rolls, as well as the duck. The crab spaetzle was also fantastic! Thank you to Olmsted and especially to Joe for making our visit so memorable.

I was literally hunting getting a table reserved online. And I thought to myself “ Wow , food must be amazing there” So when we finally got there, we really liked the atmosphere. It is cozy , everything is really well organised and there is a beautiful garden . But food is very much mediocre served in minuscule portions. We were also joked that it was good that we ate a bit before the restaurant, otherwise we’d get off the table very much hungry. At the end we got another surprise, a check that included Covid charge supposedly to help them cover their reduced dining capacity. Hmmm.. the restaurant was packed with tables and customers plus outside sitting area.

We called ahead to see if they had vegan options for their Thanksgiving dinner and they said they absolutely could provide vegan options for the multi-course Thanksgiving meal. What my husband (the vegan) wound up getting was literally a single slice of burnt sweet potato and THAT WAS IT, aside from a fruit platter that was- I kid you not- made of up canned mandarin oranges! It was almost laughable. While the rest of the family was eating multiple courses (which were generally under-flavored and overpriced), he had a single plate of one slice of sweet potato and a bowl of canned mandarin oranges. The staff was also pretty stuck up and did not seem apologetic. To this day it was one of the worst meals we've had and will likely be an annually revisited holiday tragedy for the next decade. If you're a vegetarian or vegan, I cannot recommend this place unless you want a tragic story to revisit every year.

Wonderful innovative delicious reasonably priced food. Excellent wine selection at moderate prices. Specifically, the crackers, cauliflower and monkfish were amazing and be sure to try the Morgan 's meats. Loved the carrot crepe and cod fritters. And the trout and pork were wonderful. But favorite of all was the Tagliatelle ...simply devine! And save room for the s 'mores out in the garden. In all, a perfect meal and evening out with dear friends!!

Every single recommendation she made, was well received. The wine, the snacks, entrees and dessert were all well balanced and seasoned perfectly. Our satisfaction on the portions, the taste profiles and the price of our entire meal were superb. I would highly recommend coming to Olmsted for a unique dining experience, for those who appreciate fine dining without the over-the-top flare.

Every single thing we ordered was absolutely delicious from their appetizer play on lobster thermidor, to the duck liver pate with pickled veggies (first time having pate for me! to the scallop and duck entrees (best duck I've ever had , we almost licked our plates clean. To top it off, we got to have dessert (frozen yogurt with lavender honey whipped cream and s'mores with their homemade marshmallows that we got to melt ourselves in their backyard garden where they grow their own herbs and veggies and house a couple of quail whose eggs they use (didn't realize how cute and friendly quail were btw . Not too pricey or pretentious at all either. A MUST visit!

I got 3 things Popcorn monkfish Crab Rangoon I asked for soy sauce is that wrong) And scallops ....... Now know you are eating to taste not to live here .......lol But each meal was unique and beyond imagination. I got coffee served in a the tiniest doll cups) And chocolate mouse and creme fresh served in a lava stone bowl) The guy who impressed me the most was Calvin ......... Outstanding not cheap ....but worth it !!!!
