Vello - Brookline

I wanted to have a last dinner before they closed the door in the store. Had a nice table outdoors. And the server gave me a dessert for my last birthday.

Went here for Mothers Day Brunch. We were forewarned on the confirmation call day before that service could be slow due to 2 other parties of 6 at the same time and again reminded when we arrived. The waitress took the orders and confirmed them back to us. When meals were brought we had to to tell her we never received our Aps, waffles came out topped with everything even though they were ordered plain (took 20 mins to get a new order), blueberry pancakes were not cooked in center, they were sent back over 20 mins to get new order and when they did come out they were burned. Server did offer comp the pancakes. The rest of the meals were ok nothing special. Server was quite busy and hard to get her attention.

We had such a a nice time. We were in town to tour BU, and our server couldn’t have been nicer! Everything we ordered was delicious! The empanadas, soups and clams casino were all outrageous, the NY strip steak was tender and cooked perfectly, the garlic bread was cheesy and great, and all the pastas were delicious. We will definitely go again!

Vello is just great, a nice upgrade from Brothers. We went especially to hear the Winikers' band which was lively and wonderful but not overly loud. We had a brand new waitress so our service wasn't top notch but I bet she'll get right up to speed. I highly recommend this and we didn't even have desserts because a member of our party gave them up for Lent. Desserts are reportedly a highlight.

Food was excellent and nicely plated. Our waiter was nice, but seemingly not quite fully trained in the menu and serving as yet, although no mistakes in orders were made and delivery was prompt
