I love this place. The owner is extremely nice and my pepperoni pie was exactly the “Boston-style” pizza I enjoyed during my last stay in Boston over 30 years ago! Yeah, there’s good pizza on the North Side but this joint’s pie was comfort pizza at its best. View all feedback.
What Ed Smith doesn't like about Boston House Of Pizza:
Used to come here in college under the old family owners and loved the food, especially the fries. Stopped by to order lunch on a busy work day, when I got to work and opened my food there was white human hair mixed into my salad and the meat was well over cooked. Used to come here in college under the old family owners and loved the food, especially the fries. Stopped by to order lunch on a busy work day, when I got to work and opened my food there was white human hair mixed into my salad and the meat was well over cooked. When I informed the owner of this health issue, he refused to provide a refund for hair in the food. This used to be a great family owned restaurant with friendly, thoughtful service, but this customer service experience has put me off of BHOP.
Boston House of Pizza has decent food. The gyros, steak subs, pizza, salads, and other items are good. I had been a customer for nearly 20 years and used to come here once a week, sometimes more frequently. The ownership changed several years ago and the service declined. As other reviewers mentioned, service has slowed. It takes 20 minutes for food to be cooked, compared to 5 to 10 minutes previously. The employees are not organized like the past owners even though the place is less busy than previously. I still gave this restaurant my business even after the service declined, though my visits dropped to less than once a month. I was overcharged on an item at least once when the restaurant had chicken, but not a more expensive meat. I just let the issue go. Several months ago, the man behind the counter, I presume he 's the owner or at least one of the managers, gave me a soda refill and said, This is your last refill. The way he said it was insulting and gruff and I haven 't returned since then. See my second photo? That was the last time I ever dined there. If the employees could be quicker with the food service, diners wouldn 't be sitting at their tables for 20 minutes and eventually needing a soda refill. Most of the customers are students or employees from nearby and have a limited lunch break. The people who used to own and manage this place were very kind. The new owner, not so much.
They are quick and the food is good. I recommend the sandwiches. My favorite items.
Great neighborhood spot. The folks who work there become friends. Great place.
Friendly people and delicious Greek style pizza. Just what I was looking for.
