I visited the zoo on a relatively quiet weekday for lunch and was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed my sweet panini. It seems that the quality and variety of food at the Bronx Zoo have significantly improved in recent years, with an expanded selection of vegan, vegetarian, and health-conscious options, including sandwiches, salads, black bean burgers, and warm dishes. While the prices are a bit on the higher side, I’m willing to overlook that, as it’s typical for places like this. The staff were friendly, and both the indoor and outdoor dining areas were clean and well-maintained. I would definitely order the veggie panini again.
There have been many changes here since COVID. Guests can now dine inside or outside, with nice seating available in front. I appreciate that, while the menu used to focus mostly on fried foods, they now offer their own salad options, fruit salads, and some healthier choices. Is it pricey? Yes, but I see it as a way to support animal welfare with my meal. They also serve beer and spiked seltzer for those interested. Definitely the go-to spot in the Bronx Zoo post-quarantine!
Clean and well maintained for snacks and a fast bite. sometimes very crowded, so maybe long wait to get her food. the prices are a little high, even with discounted from their annual membership. eating is okay, but they don't give a straw. it is air conditioned so they don't have to sweat or freeze.
