Cool Runnings - BRONX
Cool Runnings
Description
At this 24-hour eatery, diners experience a mix of satisfaction and disappointment. While the jerk chicken and oxtails receive mixed reviews—sometimes praised for their flavor, other times criticized for dryness—customers rave about the rice and peas. Despite issues like staff shortages and inconsistent food quality, the pleasant service leaves a positive impression. Many appreciate the quick service and affordable prices, particularly during late-night visits. Regulars recommend trying dishes like curry goat and beef patties, highlighting the authentic Jamaican flavors that make the restaurant a noteworthy stop for those seeking comfort food—though some caution about hygiene and presentation.

The professionalism and organization were incredibly disappointing. I ordered delivery and live just 5 minutes away, but it took nearly 2 hours to receive my order of stew chicken. When I called to inquire about the status, I was met with attitude and misinformation regarding my order. The food itself was only average. Overall, the experience was terrible. I won't be coming back!
Worst place to come if you are expecting a moderate to fast customer service. Sometimes, I feel these people don’t care about the line. They move slow, talk and don’t act like it is a business. Plus, the food is not as good it used to be.
Overall, I've found everything I've eaten here to be quite good and it definitely lives up to the standards of authentic yard food. However, I gave a 2-star rating for the service due to the long wait times. Customers using food delivery services (like Uber Eats or DoorDash) are prioritized, which increases the wait for those dining in. There's only one person attending to in-store customers while the rest focus on fulfilling delivery orders. The atmosphere also received a 2-star rating mainly because of the terrible parking situation in the area. That being said, I do appreciate that they are open consistently, and the food is generally fresh. I've tried a variety of dishes here, including oxtail, jerk chicken, fried chicken, all the soups, all the porridges, escovitch fish, mac and cheese, fried dumplings, and ackee and callaloo. You really can’t go wrong with any of them. Overall, I highly recommend this place—it's a favorite in the Bronx!
I ordered delivery and was disappointed when the food arrived very cold. Some items were missing from my order, and the stew peas had an unpleasant taste.
Food is good but they need better line management, a long line and they’re moving so slow and nobody is trying to speed up the service to get the customers in and out. typical Jamaican business where they don’t understand that customer service is equally important as the product they offer.
