While visiting in the area my daughter and I had a delightful dinner at South Coast Grill (Its new name). We started with drinks and had an excellent caesar salad to start. What User doesn't like about Tall Ships Waterfront Grille:
Recently had lunch there. The food was very quick. They had a smaller menu for the weekend since it was so busy. Our server was a bit abrupt. Perhaps she was tired or was having an off day but don't take it out on your customers. Hostess who sat us was very friendly and put us in a shaded spot. Have not had great meals there the food is always just ok. It's a beautiful spot they just need to get the food and service... View all feedback.
This is a delightful place to have a pleasant view out over the St. Lawrence River and the boat marina below. Really great beer, but the food is mediocre at best. So go for the location and a drink or coffee, but not to eat.

Everything was delicious. Our server was friendly and attentive.
This restaurant is beautiful, the view is lovely and the beer is great. Sadly that is where the good stops. The service was snooty, awful (server has to bring is our bills 3 times, did not bring any condiments for a burger or fries) and slow. The food was only mediocre. One friend ordered the salmon and goat cheese salad... They forgot the goat cheese. Two of them ordered the club wrap and got a cold wrap with deli meat (you expect real turkey or chicken at a place that looks like this and costs what it does). I ordered a burger which was dry, unspiced, overcooked and obvious that they just took a hunk of ground beef, shaped it to a circle and slapped it on the grill (the meat still had the ropey look). I had to steal condiments from another table because this came with nothing but lettuce and tomato. Brockville has a huge lack of patios overlooking the water, which is such a missed opportunity on the city's part, so you expect the ones that do exist to be awesome. I will never eat here or recommend that anyone waste their money.
We found the Tall Ships Waterfront Grille by accident in 2016 and really enjoyed two visits there. Loved the opportunity to try different beers in a flight, the bartender at the time (July 2016) was friendly, knowledgable and we were so impressed after our first visit we took my in-laws there later that month for their wedding anniversary and quite enjoyed it. They enjoyed it so much they wanted to spend their special 60th wedding anniversary there in 2017. We booked reservations for 6 of us. When we arrived and shown to our table outside on the patio (perfect), there was quite a bit of food under the table, French fries, chunks of bread and who knows what else. No one made an effort to clean it up. Being outside I was concerned we were about to be dive bombed by seagulls. Fortunately that did not happen. The chairs at the outdoor tables are too short for the table height. My mother in law is 4' 8" tall and she looked like she needed a booster seat. This is rather an important detail for many adult guests are short! The waitress looked untidy, her shirt needed ironing and was hanging out of her pants. She could not pronounce some of the items on the specials list" "penne" was beyond her.My husband ordered filet mignon. He was served pepper steak. When he pointed that out to the waitress she said "no, it is filet mignon". My husband said "no, it is not. filet mignon is small, usually round, and usually wrapped in bacon. This is covered in pepper corns". She went back to the kitchen, returned and said "the chef says it is filet mignon". She did not take the plate back to show the chef, so who knows what she described. My husband, rather than make a fuss, decided to just eat it. Half way through the waitress came back and said "oh, the chef did misplate your food. You did get pepper steak". as he was 1/2 way through it at that point, he was well aware. The food itself was so uninspiring. The scallops our son and his girlfriend ordered were overcooked and chewy, and the accompanying rice it was served with was lumpy and sticky. I ordered the salmon with French fries. The salmon was overcooked, dry, burnt on the outside. The French fries were clearly frozen, not even hand cut fresh. My in laws food was fine, they were pleased. But they don't dine out much, so anyone else's cooking is a treat! We had asked when booking the reservations if they had a special dessert for a special occasion and they said they could not. So we brought our own cake in. We understand the restaurant changed ownership over the winter. With all of the food shows out there now showing what amazing foods can be served with a little imagination it is so disappointing to see another restaurant stick to the lazy approach and serve mundane food. This place has the opportunity to be spectacular, with a view over the Brockville marina, a view to the St Lawrence, in a beautiful building, the décor is lovely, how disappointing to see such bland, poorly cooked unimaginatively served food by a waitress who can't even be bothered to tuck her shirt in. We will not go back.
