A cosy little set of tea rooms, with a large outdoor seating area. And we were lucky to be there on a nice day so enjoyed the flowers and shrubs, and a lovely lunch View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Purdy's Tearoom:
I've dined at this restaurant once or twice before Covid. I ordered the ploughman's dish, which was just okay. However, I was disappointed that it came with sliced bread instead of the traditional crusty bread. Only flapjacks were available for dessert, as there were no cakes left. The coffee was decent and the staff were pleasant, but I probably won't be returning. View all feedback.
This small tea room appears a bit worn out. The outdoor seating is nice, but the kitchen and serving area seem a bit dirty. The fly screen is filled with dirt and needs to be replaced. There was someone cleaning various surfaces with a cloth and rinsing it in the hand wash sink, but they did not seem very happy. The tea was average, and the coffee was weak because the portafilter was not cleaned properly. The menu claims to have vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free options, but there were none available at the cake counter. The only milk option was soy milk. Some members of our group tried the food, with mixed reviews. One person had a dry cheese scone, while another enjoyed the Victoria sponge. This place could use some updates to offer more choices for all dietary preferences and intolerances. Despite the issues, I still love this garden center and will continue to visit for plants and trees, but I hope the tea room can be improved in the future.
Visited Purdys Tea Room within a garden centre/nursery. Clean premises. Very overpriced. Cheap thin bread. A bacon sandwich which can not come as toasted ? £4.95 and a child's HALF a sandwich £3.35! There are NO cooked breakfasts on the menu an oversight on our part as it is called a TEA ROOM. Toilets are outside. The staff are very nice :
This restaurant used to be very good, but it has recently declined in quality. The menu has remained the same for years and the cakes are not as good as they used to be. The outdoor area is in need of a thorough cleaning, as it looks like it hasn't been swept in a long time. My disappointment reached its peak when I took my sister-in-law for coffee while shopping for plants for her garden. They had no gluten-free cake options available, despite the fact that I need to avoid gluten for medical reasons. When I asked why, I was informed by a staff member that they don't offer gluten-free cake because it supposedly tastes bad and no one buys it. The staff member then proceeded to tell me that my intolerance to gluten is actually due to a lack of fiber in my diet, which is not true. She was incredibly rude and disrespectful to me as a customer, blaming me for my dietary restrictions. I would recommend avoiding this place if you have a gluten intolerance and instead go to Hadfields in North Walsham, where they have a great selection and a better attitude towards customers.
Sat outside in enclosed patio and had toasted sandwiches and pate. All home made and served to the table by friendly staff suitably protected.
Went today and arrived at 2:05. Asked to see a menu and was told they had finished serving from the menu for the day. All they could offer were some quiches that had stood in the warm and dried up cheese scone. Two slices of cake and about four buns left. We had a quiche, which was just stuck on a plate, no garnish and a dry cheese scone. We’ll stick with Aylsham Garden Vente in the future, much better choice, friendlier staff and more choice if FRESH food! Need to up their game with the competition.
