Parnell's is one of the last of the old-time bar-and-grills that I know of in my neighborhood. It has a similar feel as the gathering place of my friends and I during and after the time we attended NYU, the Cedar Tavern. Both establishments knew how to char-grill burgers, setting themselves apart from the others that heat up the burgers on a steel slab. (Jackson Hole is a notable exception to this quasi-indictment. First and last time getting food here. I was excited to try this place as we've heard good things and it's only a block away from our apartment but we're very disappointed. We called in to see if they could make cheese quesadillas for my girlfriend who is a vegetarian since they only had chicken quesadillas listed on the menu. Solid selection of beers and food, service was excellent and staff was polite.
The service was horrible the food was horrible the waitresses look exhausted And one waitress was smoking a cigarette instead of taking out orders another waitress was extremely rude and just bought her food out on the table and just left it there

I enjoyed the lentil soup, the shepard's pie was also quite tasty. The staff was attentive and friendly. I look forward to returning.
