Max Fish - Broad Channel
Max Fish
Description
A beloved neighborhood dive that doubles as a late‑night dance hub, this bar offers cheap drinks, DJ‑driven music (often old‑school hip‑hop), an upstairs lounge with a pool table and a lively downstairs dance floor. The eclectic crowd — hipsters, skaters and locals — makes it welcoming for solo visitors and groups, and regulars praise friendly bartenders. Expect dim, loud, art‑lined spaces and spirited nights; however, cleanliness and limited beer options have been noted. No cover is common, making it an affordable, gritty spot for nocturnal fun.
Feedback
The drinks were incredibly affordable, and the music was amazing—shout out to the DJ, a really friendly Asian woman! It was my first time there, and I had an absolute blast. I literally danced all night and enjoyed every moment. The crowd was great too—no fights or negative vibes, just everyone respecting each other. It was truly a wonderful experience, and I can’t wait to go back!
The atmosphere is fantastic. I stopped by here after arriving from the airport, and it was the perfect spot to enjoy a cold beer and a delicious burger.
I love this bar. It's the only bar I frequent in the area and, honestly, the only bar I really enjoy going to alone. I am not an avid drinker but, because it is very friendly and the same faces come in on and off occasion I've never felt (as a woman) unsafe or uncomfortable. My fave bartender is James. He is super chill, down to earth, makes a good whiskey sour, and is pretty good at pool. I don't drink often but, when I want to be sure I will have a good time without being harrassed I always go to Max Fish. Literally love this bar.
Cool music vibes, fun decor. The night I went there were a bunch of younger folks, guys especially who acted a bit immature. Overall good time. The bartender downstairs was dope too
