Reviews - Claws
Reviews summary
Nestled in Brixham's bustling harbor, Claws Hut offers a seafood experience that evokes mixed reactions. While many rave about the fresh and delightful seafood options, such as oysters and crab sandwiches, others highlight significant service issues. Long wait times, forgotten orders, and subpar customer service detract from the overall experience. Some menu items, like cockles, received less favorable feedback due to texture and taste. Despite the criticisms, its charming atmosphere, reasonable prices for certain dishes, and a friendly staff create a unique dining spot. For seafood lovers, it's a gamble worth taking, but patience may be required.

I've been going to Brixham from 5 years old and we as a family have always enjoyed the food from here.
The lunch of crawling, moaning and uttering was absolutely brilliant. oysters were so good that I still had 6! usually at the kiosk on the kai eat, but it was a little cool personal friendly, and the menu is comprehensive and good. it is so good that it should be a secret!

Having read the bad reviews I was a little sceptical but was feeling a bit hungry after my sea voyage from Torquay! Started with a mixed large bowl of cockles and welks which is my usual fancy! They were completely tasteless and I thought the reviews may have been correct? However having ordered a fresh crab sandwich on brown I was blown away by the freshness of the bread and the taste of the fresh crabmeat this lady knows how to make a crab sandwich! So much so that I told her how good it was and so much better than the one I had endured on Torquay harbour! Almost worth paying the £9 on the ferry to get one! Thank you lovely lady!
Haven’t had cockles for several years and thought I would treat myself at the hut. Wish I hadn’t bothered. They were mushy which was a horrible texture and tasteless. Seems other reviewers felt the same.

Called in for a coffee and cake. Had the homemade scones with jam and cream, divine! Fabulous, welcoming hosts. Would recommend
We decided to make Claws our lunch destination while planning our day in Brixham. We arrived at the harbor early and decided to grab a coffee before returning for lunch. Unfortunately, the coffee was not up to par. My mom...
The food, as always was delicious. We went twice in the same week. Very hectic lunchtime but staff were friendly and helpful. Scallops were fabulous, accompanied with fresh salad and bread. Only one small concern. Staff started to tell people arriving at 3pm that they...
We have been calling regularly at Claws restaurant ever since we moved to Devon some years ago but today I noticed a decline in standards. The fish was still fresh and good but the accompanying salad was undressed and the staff were not as friendly...

Went to the outside hut for lunch. Unfortunatly a terrible experience, mainly due to the very miserable and rude staff. Very disappointing. Food: 3 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 3
I enjoyed a delicious crab sandwich and fruit scone at this restaurant. They are dog-friendly both inside and outside, and the aroma of the cooking is amazing. I would highly recommend it and will definitely be returning. The service was great, and I would rate the food, service, and atmosphere a 4 out of 5. I recommend trying the crab sandwich. The price per person is between £10-£20 for a lunch meal.
Just had breakfast at this restaurant and it was excellent. The food was fresh, not greasy, and reasonably priced. The service was great too. I would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys good food. Meal type: Breakfast Price per person: £80–90 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
Absolute rip off tourist trap, no prices advertised, restaurants are cheaper. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
I had breakfast at this restaurant and it was amazing! The price per person was between £1–10, which was very affordable. The food was top-notch, I would rate it a 5 out of 5. The service was excellent as well, another 5 out of 5. The atmosphere of the restaurant was also great, I would give it a 5 out of 5. Overall, I highly recommend dining at this restaurant for a delicious and enjoyable meal.

Today, I stopped at a restaurant to try some crab sticks, but I was disappointed. They were tough, dry, and lacked freshness. I ended up throwing them away and spitting out the bite I took. It was truly disappointing to receive such poor quality food in a seaside town. As locals, we will now avoid this place. It's a shame.
