food was delicious and the ambience and decoration was such a classic cantonese restaurant! the stand out dish was the ginger and green onion beef, beef was so tender and cooked perfectly. staff was also very friendly and assisted us in a birthday surprise. would definitely be back here for authentic chinese food View all feedback.
What Vincent Ni doesn't like about Mayflower Chinese:
The service was lacking and all the food was extremely greasy. As someone who appreciates authentic Chinese cuisine, I will not be returning to this restaurant. Additionally, the prices were too high for the quality of food. View all feedback.
We couldn't find our reservation, so we were seated upstairs in a less desirable area. The air conditioning was on, making it drafty. However, the shared starter was delicious. Unfortunately, one of our meals was incorrect and took a long time to be corrected. By the time the dish was fixed, the rest of our party had almost finished their meals and the rice was cold. The dish itself was also not very warm. Despite being told it was safe to eat, it is common knowledge that dishes should be properly reheated. When we asked the waitress to remove the service charge, she seemed indignant. Luckily, the management intervened and removed the service charge as well as the price of the incorrect dish. This experience overshadowed what was supposed to be a nice birthday surprise. The name Lee may be meaningful in China, but not at the Mayflower. Overall, it was a terrible experience.
We called on for a takeaway. The food was very tasty. The staff were friendly and the service quick. We had the Chicken Curry and I can highly recommend rhe Satay Chicken. Chips were lovely and crispy. The restaurant seemed busy when we arrived and the food looked delicious. I would go here again when I return to Bristol.
On April 12th, we visited this restaurant before attending a show in Bristol. It was an amazing discovery - the crispy chilli beef was the best I've ever had, and the service from the staff was excellent. All of the dishes, including the Duck and Singapore noodles, were delicious. Despite its unassuming exterior, this hidden gem impressed us with its rotating tables. We will definitely be returning!
As always excellent service and the best Chinese food in Bristol. Worth every penny. I do not understand some of the bad reviews this is my forth time here and the staff are so friendly and can’t do enough for you. Highly recommend.
Take away. Food was cold. All of it very oily and crispiness had gone. Very disappointing. Avoid.
