Contribute FeedbackBrowns, a restaurant with varied reviews, offers a mix of experiences. Diners have expressed dissatisfaction with inconsistent portion sizes, lukewarm food, and slow service, particularly during special occasions like Christmas. While some meals, like the pork belly and afternoon tea, have been praised for quality and atmosphere, others found them lacking, citing sparse fillings and cold dishes. Despite mixed reviews on food, the staff received high marks for attentiveness and friendliness. With a blend of affectionate ambiance and delicious offerings, Browns is appreciated but remains a gamble—perfect for casual outings, yet potentially disappointing on special occasions.
That is a great restaurant with a relaxing atmosphere. the food was delicious and the waiters were very friendly and helpful. I would recommend it to everyone.
My favorite thing about browns is her afternoon. it is really good, but even though I had once called a table and booked when we arrived, there was no booking written for us (we could still sit and have our afternoons though). I like the atmosphere here (everyone just got on work and comes for a drink or two). great location, beautiful seating outside when the sun is out. service is good. the prices are okay.
We booked in September for Christmas Day 2023, our table was at 4 for four adults and one little toddler. The canapés tasted as if they had been made earlier and left out all day. The starters were lukewarm, cold scallops are not pleasant. The mains were quite sparse, two small bowls of veg for four people. The roast potatoes were hard, again as if they had been waiting in the oven all day, the pigs in blankets were anemic, one of the sausages was still pink in the middle. Maybe we were just having what was left at the end of the day? Maybe they hadn’t cooked enough? Three of us had the Eton mess for dessert and it was so bad, it was practically a bowl of cream with a few little bits of fruit and meringue, it was inedible. I have given the two stars for the service as our waitress was so good. It was extremely busy, we had a long wait for our food though. Considering our meal cost £95 per person it was very very disappointing. I don’t think we will return and definitely not for such a special occasion
Me and my cousins come here every year for xmas dinner. Food is great, service isn’t the best but what you expect when it’s full all night. Everybody is kind and that makes up for it.
Even though it was Christmas, we had no trouble finding a table for 3. The staff were all incredibly helpful, attentive, efficient, and caring. We thoroughly enjoyed the Christmas menu, which was fabulous and offered plenty of delicious food that was beautifully presented. The decorations and atmosphere were also lovely. We would highly recommend this restaurant and plan on returning in the future.
