What Carole Harris doesn't like about Birch:
Was looking forward to going to this restaurant as all the reviews seem amazing. Sorry to say that although the food was very nice, the portion sizes are very small for the money. As it was sold to us by the waiter as tapas style dishes, it was hard to see how a crispy fried egg on the smoked duck salad could be split 4 ways(or even 2 ways). Quality of food and well presented. Every court is amazingly testified.
The restaurant has a rather basic feel to the decor and the waiter and waitress that served us were fine, but no more than any other restaurant. Sorry Birch this reviewer didn't feel that you lived up to my expectations.
This is by far our favorite restaurant in Bristol. It's perfect for those who prefer something a bit different from the usual mainstream spots. While it may be a bit pricey (we paid £46 each for 3 small dishes, dessert, and a glass of wine), the quality of the food makes it worth it. We particularly enjoyed the beef and lamb dishes, and the chocolate fondue dessert is a must-try. The waitress was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere of the restaurant was quiet and relaxed, with nice background music. A tip for first-time visitors: be sure to order 3 small dishes and save room for dessert!
This restaurant is a hidden gem! The food is delicious and the staff is incredibly helpful. A must-visit!
This local restaurant is charming and unassuming. The service is friendly and attentive. The standout dishes were the perfectly cooked pig belly (which can be tricky to get right) and the deliciously prepared artichoke hearts.
