Reservations are highly encouraged, but they were able to accommodate us just fine. The blueberry martinis were awesome. My husband's lobster was delish. Try the calamari--so good. and my roasted romaine wedge with pickled beets, tomatoes that tasted like candy, and blue cheese was awesome. View all feedback.
What Emmanuel Kuhlman doesn't like about Anchor:
The food was mediocre and the portions were small. My guest ordered fried mussels, but all they received were a few crushed shells in fritters, and that was $27.00. It was very disappointing, especially since I had recommended this restaurant. The tacos were just okay, but they were quite small. My burger was overcooked, and they also forgot to bring my side salad. While the hostess was gracious and hardworking, it d... View all feedback.
This place is amazing! The food is great and the staff is very friendly. The view is absolutely beautiful and the drinks were delicious! This will be a regular place for us.
My family and I had a very unpleasant disappointing dining experience at The Anchor tonight. The menu itself was already severely lacking in every way however it was without ANY hesitation significantly OVER-priced across the board which I found shocking given the less than mediocre food and poor slow service. By the time our slow inexperienced waiter finally made his way over to take our dinner order, we eventually learned a short time later that four of our selections were already completely sold out. This was at the very beginning of the evening and so I can't fathom how a kitchen could be so unprepared and under-stocked at the very beginning of dinner on a busy Saturday night? The $27 Lobster Popcorn appetizer I settled for was a complete and total JOKE as it consisted of just a VERY small amount of tiny fried lobster pieces mixed together with an abundance of actual popped popcorn...as well as a ton of unopped kernals? Altogether I found this to be rather offensive. We all left our dining experience still feeling hungry yet also quite annoyed by the unacceptable overpriced portions and less than adequate dining service. Just to be clear, I do sincerely wish you folks nothing but success however I surely do hope you take immediate necessary actions to get a firm grip on REALITY when it comes to reasonable and appropriate prices that actually match the quality of the foods you serve via the service you provide, all before its too late!
The location service are 5 stars. The food/ wine more like 3.5 stars if in a typically populated environment w/ competition. My family I visited on Taco Tuesday , which entails an offering of 3 different specialty tacos; pork short ribs, lobster and fish for $16. A great deal, unless you 're very familiar with how traditional tacos should be. My suggestion is to eat the taco filling itself, sans the mushy corn tortilla. Our appetizers were much better. And, after viewing entrees at other tables, you may just want to skip the taco special. Fair warning; if you 're traveling in Maine during high season, numerous restaurants are closed on Tuesdays which significantly limits your options, especially when in tow w/ kids. I think The Anchor Restaurant is an excellent choice for adults only night, or a date night. So if you 're in the area w/ kids on a Tuesday, pick up something at Hannaford Bros. Supermarket, visit The Anchor Restaurant on date night sans the kids.
We walked into the restaurant for a late lunch and greeted by the manager with a warm smile..... Beautiful place with a beautiful view. She explained the large variety of the Maine beers and we made our choices... First thing... Lobster popcorn! You have to try it! Awesomeness! Our waiter was the sweetest and most professionally polite young man that catered to our every need.... We tried the crab avocado wrap and fish and chips... Oh and a blueberry martini! Wow!!!! What an experience! I cannot wait to go back and enjoy this wonderful placewith with such warmness!
