Food was fabulous. We had made a reservation for the deck but failed to factor in how cold it would be in the evening. Lucky for us, the waitress knew and had kept us a table inside because for a Thursday night, it was a full house. We ordered five meals and everyone was very happy. My family and I have twice dined at Zegatos, most recently just before Christmas. On both occasions we have enjoyed the food, and the wait staff have been friendly and efficient. My only problem with the restaurant is that it is tied to the cash-only bar of the Golf Club. At our last visit, I was having problems with my ATM card and was not able to withdraw cash. I had enough cash in my wallet to buy the kids' soft dr... View all feedback.
We are locals that have been here probably about 6 or 7 times, for lunch or dinner. Lunch on the deck is brilliant, overlooking the golf course and the lovely trees, one would generally pay a lot more for a lovely view such as that. It is very reasonably priced, the calamari is local so give me local calamari with "only 6 pieces" which frankly is often all you get with calamari anyway. I would call that a standard size in restaurants that serve local seafood. I would rather have a beautifully cooked smaller amount than a large plate of frozen Asian crumbed calamari from elsewhere. Lovely fresh salad and crunchy fries and I was very happy, as I always have been there. On other occasions I have had the market fish and the sandcrab lasagne which are also very yummy. Wanted to have dessert but way too full. My husband had the chicken wings which he was very happy with and it came with coleslaw which he said was just excellent so he was very happy as he loves coleslaw. On previous occasions he has had the gourmet pie which he was very contented with. He has a large appetite and always goes away feeling satisfied. Tony the chef always has a chat with us and we are lucky to have such a great chef in a local restaurant.
I really wanted to have a good experience here as I live locally, but I must say that I was disappointed.I dined at Zegato's with my wife some days ago and we were generally unimpressed with our food, especially given all the rave reviews which this restaurants gets. I ordered calamari, which were ok, although the portion was rather small, as others have observed. Same thing with my wife's steak. I saw however huge servings of pasta being delivered to other tables; maybe we should have had that instead. The ambience is that of a RSL or Surf Club, with pokie area well in sight and loudspeaker club announcements. I guess going there for lunch and have a deck table overlooking the golf course would have made for a much more enjoyable experience.I wish this restaurant the best, as it is a strong presence within the Gap community, but I doubt that I will bring my business here again though.
We had lunch last Sunday with friends who were visiting from NZ. I ordered the 'famous' calamari. Whilst the calamari was very nice and well cooked, I only received 6 pieces!! And one of those was the size of my little finger nail. That's a ripoff for $23. When I queried this with the waitress she confirmed that's all I get. I half hoped that I might get some mo0re brought out, but this didn't happen. So for the cost of a few more pieces of calamari which costs nothing to buy anyway, they get a bad review and a local customer who wont return or promote their business.....which is crazy considering that we were the only people eating there for Sunday lunch apart from another couple who turned up an hour after us. Message to the chef and management....go to Samford Hotel and order their Calamari for $27 and see how much you get.....I share mine with my 7yo daughter and we both come away full.....and theirs is just as nice and tender. And there are tons of other venues providing far better value for money o9n a Sunday afternoon, and they are packed. You can take my advice or struggle on.
We had the new lamb burger, truffle fries and new duck spring rolls. So yummy! The club burger looks a treat.

The Sand Crab Ravioli is a stand out, as is the Calamari. But then, so too was the Pork Belly and the Cajun Pork Cutlet. All the meals were beautifully presented and the table service was fast and friendly. It would have been nicer to sit outside on the deck and look out over the green, because the restaurant is part of the golf club and has dated decor, lurid carpet and pokies. But it really doesn't matter when the food is this good.
