Small restaurant nestled on the road side between tawoomba and Brisbane closeby Ipswich with the ambience of the old style saloon . Staff were relatively friendly, courteous and helpful. Menu was decent for a pub, and not having any expectations going in, I was quite surprised. Not only that the food prices were really cheap. Hamburger and a handful of chips was only $8. Food also came out quick, approximate 15 minut... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Sundowner Saloon:
We came for dinner as a family. The place looked really nice and we thought that it would be a nice night, staff were friendly, then we got our food and it was really disappointing. The steaks we ordered were thin and poor quality and I'm sorry but frozen vegetables are just not worthy of eating if you are going to pay for a meal it should be fresh. We got toppers on our steak I only got 3 small pieces of calamari an... View all feedback.
We had a light lunch, the food was good and the service was prompt and friendly, good value for the price
Service great, food and drink great. Perfect to go and just chill and have a good country meal without all the fuss.
Great value meals, very friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Great place to eat and party. We enjoy lots of family dinners here.
On the way back from Toowoomba stopped in at Sundowner Saloon. Blown away by great value from the weekly specials for a very nice meal.
Out for a Sunday drive in the Lockyer Valley, we decided to stop in at the Sundowner for lunch, having driven past it many times but it looks interesting - the outside looking like something out of a Wild West movie. They have a nice outdoor verandah area and I would have liked to sit out there but it was a bit too warm plus there was a table of smokers out there. Inside there's lots of tv screens and betting screens (I think that's what they were) but the restaurant area is off to the side and it looked nice enough. We did not have high expectations of the food and we were therefore not disappointed. They had a "Sunday Roast" special (roast pork). I had wanted the Sunday Roast but without the meat - imagining a plate of crispy roast potatoes, roast pumpkin etc but was told that the only veggies you got was carrots, peas and corn. So, not really a Sunday Roast? I ended up having the veggie quiche which came with chips and the aforementioned peas, carrots and corn. My friend went for the Sunday Roast which also came with chips and peas, carrots and corn. The veggies were way over cooked but the chips were nice. My friend had so much pork he couldn't eat it all. We both had a really nice gravy. The quiche was pretty bland but edible enough. What can you expect for the money. It cost $21.50 for the two meals and it was $13.90 for a bottle of wine. Yeah, it's basic home cooking but it was a very cheap day out. We couldn't really complain
