Govindas delivers exactly what you would expect: straightforward, delicious Indian food. The menu features daily specials, allowing for a range of options. They offer three sizes of meals, with the large option including a drink and dessert (just make sure to avoid the non-vegan options). In addition, they serve samosas, sweets, and salads. I had heard a lot about this restaurant and was initially let down to find that they only offered takeaway options and no buffet menu. However, the quality of the food was exceptional. The samosas, vadas, and chole were incredibly fresh and delicious. I will definitely recommend this place and plan to return. Thank you, Govinda!
A flavored rice dish paired with curry will set you back about $10, making it a hearty meal for a medium eater. I appreciated the simplicity of the curries, but I wasn’t a fan of the heavy use of potatoes. I look forward to returning to this restaurant for some more of their regular meals.
This is a laid-back restaurant located near the old Dendy cinema on George Street, and it's an excellent budget-friendly choice. Soft Hare Krishna chants play in the background, creating a unique ambiance. The food is delicious, and I especially enjoyed the dessert included in my meal.
I tried this Govindas for lunch. At first I thought it was a one serve only place so bought additional koftas and lemonade. But I’ve just seen that, that was my bad and it was all you can eat. <br/ <br/ Food was standard delicious. I really love the kofta and sauce. The veggie lasagne is great but I can’t go past the veggie curry. <br/ <br/ I liked the cosy atmosphere as it was raining at the time. The price is nourishing and bang for buck.
Govinda’s serves some really awesome Indian vegetarian food and that reputation took us there. We were not disappointed as their rotis, rice and curries were lip smacking. However, the service was slow and we had to follow up several times after ordering.
