Feedback
We booked at the logis as it seemed convenient to stay over on the way from Bordeaux to Calais. The room was comfortable, it was the hottest day of the year and now air conditioning, but they had shuttered the room for us in advance and it was relatively cool. A nice little town, we were there on market day, a taste of provincial France. The surprise was the michelin standard of the food -and this includes the breakfast. What a wonderful end to a holiday in France, which included a river tour on the Garonne. We will be back.
We've eaten here before and have always been delighted by the food and the gentle, knowledgeable friendliness of the service. This time the three of us had the 19.5 euro three-course menu which is served at lunchtimes on weekdays. The starter course of velouté buttermilk squash soup was delicious. The main course of guinea fowl (taken off the bone and reshaped before roasting, then served on a bed of cream-rich mashed potatoes) was fantastic. And the Tarte Tatin for pudding was the best ever. All these superlatives! But they are justified - the quality of the ingredients and the masterly skills of Mr Dupoix the chef-proprietor shone through at every stage. One of us is allergic to cream. This was taken on board without fuss and the ingredients of dishes adjusted accordingly. With a bottle of good wine and coffees at the end of the meal the total bill was 109 euros - a modest price for what is probably the best lunch we've had this year!
