We had a wonderful experience at Basil Tree last night, where we came for my birthday dessert. We had been to another restaurant for dinner and had a terrible experience, so we were gratified to see the Basil Tree had not closed for the evening. We were welcomed and seated immediately. The atmosphere was lovely, and we had a wonderful dessert. It saved the evening for us! Thank you Basil Tree!! View all feedback.
We have been coming to this restaurant for years and have never had poorer service, specifically from the waitress. Upon being seated, we waited 15 minutes before she spoke to us. We watched her wait on two other tables multiple times before asking her if she could take our order. When she went to take our order, she said nothing and just stood at our table with a pen and paper. We were not asked what we would like to drink or eat, no nightly special was described to us. We had to prompt her to ask us. After ordering, she did not come by our table to refill bread or water for the 20 minutes we waited for our food. We had to ask the manager for service. Upon asking for water service, the waitress proceeded to walk to our table, set a pitcher of water down in front of my husband, and walk away without saying a word. No other tables had pitchers of water except ours.As a local business owner, I would NEVER treat my customers/clients like this under any circumstance.

Cute spot. Love the chicken parm. The prosciutto is a good serving. The gnocchi, however, was more like a soft goo pocket. Go with chicken parm
The place was small and kind of romantic. It's a great place to take a date, in my opinion. The service was great, the portions were pretty good. We got fresh bread to start and we ordered the brucheta, which doesn't have any tomatoes and was delicious. One entrée was a chicken marsala with potatoes, and it was very good also. The potatoes were cooked to perfection. The second entrée was a build your own pasta with chicken, vegetables, and spaghetti and was really great too. We will definitely be going back.
We've been wanting to try Basil Tree since we moved to Dixon and finally went last night. It was incredible. I got Veal Parm and it was amazing! Their bruschetta was fresh and delicious. We had an amazing dinner!
