Group of eight ate breakfast here two days in a row, day a breakfast for all eight was excellent, Omelette cook well with a variety of ingredients and the service was excellent! Day two, service was still excellent, but the omelet were boiled over and had fewer ingredients, the pancakes were hard, a knife was required to cut them. Prices are very reasonable. So day one we give five and day two a three. I would defini... View all feedback.
What Sarah Skinner doesn't like about Jack's Grub Pub:
Just to start, I work at a restaurant so this review is hard to write. The food was sub par at best, whitefish sandwich on a dry bun, nachos completely inedible and the Ruben wasn’t even cooked. We were charged double for a domestic beer(see pictures for reference) as locals we will never be eating here again. All around terrible experience! Price per person: $50–100 View all feedback.
I hadn't visited this place in a couple of years because it was disappointing before, but I’m happy to say it's significantly better now! The food has greatly improved, and the service is a major upgrade. I will definitely be coming back!
I visited Jack's Grub Pub and was impressed by both the service and the food. I want to extend my compliments to the staff and the kitchen. A special shout-out to Chef Tracy, who treated us to the best bread pudding I've ever tasted. It's truly on par with any BBQ restaurant's bread pudding.
To begin with, I work in the restaurant industry, so it's difficult for me to write this review. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing at best. The whitefish sandwich came on a dry bun, the nachos were completely inedible, and the Reuben wasn't cooked properly. Additionally, we were charged twice for a domestic beer (see attached pictures for reference). As locals, we won't be returning here again. Overall, it was a terrible experience! Price per person: $50–100.
I was honestly surprised that a meal for four people, along with three waters, cost $62 before tax. I had been following your story since you reopened and was eager to try the pub under its new ownership. While my kids enjoyed their meals, my husband and I were disappointed. The cherry salad, priced at $13, should have included chicken instead of an extra $3 for a small, dry grilled chicken piece. The menus posted on the website are outdated; poutine is no longer available. The restaurant has shifted focus to being primarily a Panini place with a bar now, and the prices have increased significantly. On Tuesday, we were in Petoskey and paid less for two burgers on pretzel buns. On Wednesday, we went to Jack’s Grub and Pub, but we weren’t informed about any specials. The service was decent, but we probably won’t return because of our impression of the new food options, increased prices, and the lack of visible specials (nothing was posted or communicated until after our visit). Also, the parking is shared with a hotel.
We ate here awhile back, getting burgers and truffle Parmesan fries. As folks from Illinois, we love truffle anything so we enjoy a place that can do it right. We noticed that the interior was in a state of disrepair and needed a lot of work done, and generally had a weird aesthetic to it. The service was subpar for as slow as they were, and when the food came out, it was even worse. The fries specifically are worth mentioning, as they were just oily with cheap Parmesan sprinkled on top with no taste of truffle whatsoever. We opted to hit their bar after for a few drinks before going home, and the bartender was unaware of how to make even the most basic of cocktails, like a Jack and Coke. It was her first day apparently, so I cut her some slack, but it was concerning that she didn't have a trainer with her almost the whole time.
