Michelin Star quality. I enjoyed an outstanding tasting menu this evening, complete with a curated selection of wines. The food was exceptional, and the service matched its quality. Overall, it was a great value for the price. View all feedback.
What George S doesn't like about The Set:
Disappointing. We have been talking about going to the set for some time and did have high expectations. The food we got was worthy of a cafe, not an apparently Michelle rated place. I had some burnt tasting broccoli with bonito flakes sprinkled on it and an egg yoke. We had the beetroot Wellington to share.. That was terrible... Dry.. Uncooked... Bland and unexciting. The best part of the main was the side order of... View all feedback.
We opted for the drinks flight, initially concerned about keeping up with them all, but they paired beautifully with the dishes. We truly couldn’t have made better choices! The service was relaxed, informal, and attentive. Perhaps we’re viewing everything through rose-colored glasses, as we’ve always loved The Set. Plus, with limited travel opportunities to explore new tastes and flavors, our excitement was heightened. This type of dining experience may not be for everyone, but we believe it’s pure genius! Thank you once again—we will definitely be back!
We went to The Set twice in the last month or so, the second time returning for the special Veganuary menu. Both times the service is really friendly and the food is really nice. Very inventive and wonderful flavours. We enjoyed it very much, and certainly will return. However i must point out, both times we left still a bit hungry. Not even just comfortable, but a bit hungry. In fact on the second occasion we had to drop off at Leons before the bus to get a quick burger. The Set is not cheap, and the food is wonderful as i said, but it needs more. Either an extra course or something more substantial. We are not espcially greedy or big eaters, but expect to leave satisfied. So please take this as constructive criticism.
We had a great evening in the Set celebrating into my birthday. Set menu was very diverse, had so many surprises, we liked every course but most the scallops tikka masala. Not to forget the cheeseburger butter which we will need our whole life to get to something near to that wonderful taste on our own. Summary: We loved the Set.
The dishes were very flavorful and unique. However, the presentation was primarily straightforward for this type of restaurant. The wine pairing was well done. Most of the servers were attentive, but when describing each dish, they seemed a bit disinterested and read from a script. In a few instances, they spoke so quickly that my party and those at nearby tables struggled to follow along. Considering the £275 meal price, we were hoping for a bit more overall.
The food and service were absolutely outstanding. This was the best meal I've had in Brighton; every course was expertly prepared and delicious.
