beautiful cozy little pub/restaurant with a nice selection of ales and lagoons as well as wee and spirituosen. eating is excellent, a cut above her usual pub grub, but there was still a steak, a burger and fish and chips in the offer. beautiful friendly staff and a good search for when they have a top notch menu and a beautiful pint to wash it. What Non M doesn't like about The Independent:
We weren’t eating on this occasion. However I ordered olives with our drinks. I wish I hadn’t as they were tinned, tasteless and watery. Drinks were exceedingly expensive as well. On the plus side the pub has a nice ambience and the man behind the bar was very pleasant. However £16.50 for a beer, a glass of wine and tasteless olives sent us home early. Pity as our previous experience there was a good one View all feedback.
Twelve of us went to this restaurant for Christmas lunch and it was almost empty. The food was delicious, hot, and there was plenty of it. The menu had a good variety, including options for vegetarians and vegans.
Popped in here on a miserable wet Saturday lunchtime. Lovely surroundings, good food and nice staff. Cracking range of beers but alas I was driving. Food was nice and well presented

There are lots of fine pubs in Hanover and this is possibly the best. There's an amazing selection of great beers, the food is delicious and the staff are genuinely friendly and helpful. We booked The Independent for a reception and their help with organising it was invaluable, the buffet was superb and everything went off perfectly. I really can't find anything to fault it, highly recommended!
This is a fantastic pub with a wide variety of beers and snacks. The atmosphere in the evening is intimate and lovely. The staff and customers are very friendly. There are three rooms, including quiet areas, with nice decor. There is a small bookshop in the back and a library of cookbooks that you can browse. They also sell delicious chocolate. There is a small terrace in the front. This is definitely one of the nicest and most relaxing pubs in Hanover.
