do not let them be fooled by the modest facility, this place is all about eating. a takeaway that doubles thanks to the 3 small tables as a mini restaurant (a good idea as my food would go cold into my hotel! the food is freshly prepared and cooked before them. the evening meal consisted of sweet soup, seuan tofu and a fried rice that was all great. this place is one of these beautiful little foundations when they ar... What mattBHAFC doesn't like about Shanghai Express:
I came here on the way home as was starving, they cook everything infront of you but it's all straight from the freezer, even basic stuff like crispy chilli beef. It wasn't nice to eat either, and I regretted wasting my money. It's so bad getting a bad Chinese. Extremely disappointing View all feedback.
During my stay in Brighton, I found this place to be a perfect choice for me. I ordered takeout and the food was delicious and reasonably priced!
I have been living in the area for the last 12 years and I can confidently say that this Chinese take-away is consistently excellent. Every time I order, I am impressed by the high quality of the food, the spicy flavors, and the fact that everything is served piping hot. Some of my current favorites are the egg-fried rice, the spicy peri-peri prawns, and the refreshing prawn crisps. I highly recommend this place.
Satay chicken, ginger and spring onion chicken and chicken fried rice plus prawn crackers (free) all for £12, good value and good food. Loved the fact that you can watch the whole cooking process right there in front of you (the place is basically a completely open kitchen with a counter at the front). Bear in mind it's cash only nearest cashpoint I could find was NatWest which is about 0.5km away. Also the satay sauce was quite spicy which I didn't mind but it's not as bland as some.
Amazing food, a great couple who cook amazing homemade dishes right in front of you! 5* would reccommend to anyone!
Probably the worst Chinese i have eaten. Processed sauce, cheapest meat possible used, no freshness and heated up rice... So many better options nearby...
