Came here after glowing recommendations from both friends and neibours. You should believe the hype. A truely fantastic and interesting dining experience that needs to be done. Hope they keep it going or find a permanent home as this could easily become a regular spot. Service was really professional and engaging. Thank you View all feedback.
I visited this restaurant with friends earlier this week. The tasting menu was absolutely stunning, featuring some truly unique dishes. The restaurant is located in a stylish coach house in the Brunswick area of Hove. The amuse bouches were particularly delicious, with standout dishes like crispy chicken skins with coriander and lemongrass. Highlights of the meal included a delightful King Crab dish, quail with honey and pear, perfectly cooked cod with chorizo and samphire, and a tasty beef dish with wasabi, apple, and balsamic. The meal ended with a decadent dark chocolate and Yuzu sphere. Mark, please put together another tasting menu soon!
Truthfully it was a gnats whisker away from being excellent but better than very good. The service was just fantastic as were some of the food elements it just needed a little extra in the way of food .Maybe if the cheese with port had been big enough to see we would have felt more fed. Some might think that £45 is a bit much but with no profit from drinks its hard to see how Alex Mark could do it for less The lamb and pork mains were sensational. I stongly recomend a visit whilst you can
Mark's dishes are beautifully presented and intricately constructed, showcasing a perfect blend of original and harmonious flavors. Despite their small size and complexity, each ingredient stands out and complements the dish as a whole. The cider braised pork, for example, was topped with a thin crackling skin and paired with complementary sauces. The overall dining experience is excellent value, especially with the BYOB policy. Mark's culinary talent rivals that of Michelin-starred restaurants, and I would not hesitate to place Maw among my most memorable dining experiences. I hope Mark can find a permanent location, even if it means moving away from Brighton. I will definitely be following him wherever he goes.
Girlfriend and I visited after a recommendation. Lovely warm atmosphere and even lovelier hosts to match. Very talkative and welcoming. Had a lovely relaxed meal and left feeling very satisfied. The food in my opinion is irrelevant to the actual enjoyment of the evening, but for the sake of the review everything was absolutely delicious. Varied flavour, texture and style; all beautifully plated. Be warned though very rich and on the salty side. Lucky I'm a sucker for just that. Will be returning with the Mother ASAP!
Wow what a lovely little place and so perfectly situated. it 's nice and intimate without being so small that you can 't have a convocation without the rest of the restaurant hearing. the decor is very, clean, crisp, simple and pleasing to the eye. My partner and I had the spring tasting menu, each and every dish was exquisite and intriguing, the combinations of colours and flavours worked so well and left us feeling extremely happy. The Duck Curry, Garam Masala, Coconut, Tomato and Mustard was an absolute favourite of ours. The passion and creativity the chef has really shines through in every way. I found the menu and portions to be perfect in size, the dishes came out at a great pace giving us enough time to thoroughly enjoy each one without feeling rushed or left to feel hungry in between. It 's also a 'bring your own ' restaurant which is a lovely added bonus, seeing the menu in advance on tabl.com also makes it nice and easy to choose which drinks to take to accompany your meal. The sweet box your presented with at the end of your meal is a really great touch too. I highly recommend trying MAW you will not leave disappointed and all for an exceptionally good price of £40 a head. I look forward to going back and trying another menu you soon. Keep up the great work.
