You know what you are getting at English's. Proper service, proper table linen, super wine list, the best oysters, traditional menu of expertly cooked fish. Expensive Yes, Does it deliver Absolutely. We shared the bread mackerel pate, oysters, 700gm dover sole, mashed potato spinach can not stop raving about it. View all feedback.
What Miriam Antunes doesn't like about English's Of Brighton:
We had the broken firefish and chips x2... fish was okay, nothing special, but half the size of everything I've ever had. But literally there were 10 chips on each plate! And cost £20 per record for the privilege! plus alleged voluntary 12.5% service fee plus 50p per fish dish for the fisherman something or other... but not voluntarily, as all added to the bill without asking. Would not return completely torn... £60... View all feedback.
The dame that served us was very nice, the other dame is a complete b!* we asked another staff where the rest of the dishes are, we ordered the last, but it came first! she replied this is a cold dish, that means all for them. I literally fucked her sarcasm. later I asked her where my wee is, which I ordered, she came back and cursed me. they have already ordered it with my colleague, why they order it again. Hello, it's not my fault you can't understand a simple English? the best is that she didn't even apologize and she went away! this incident is enough for me to never go back after everything just...read more
Beautiful seafood in a classic environment. the personal was warm and accommodating. make sure they have the economical and truffle oil side! highly recommended and we will be back next time we are in brighton.
Amazing good restaurant! it's a shame that we haven't visited before, because we lived in brighton for so long! the traditional English menu with modern touch! the master chef is so talented! will visit again.
We visited during the Easter holiday. A great local seafood restaurant, the food is delicious and the young lady serving our table is friendly. 5-star for the food and the table experience itself. However, I took a star away because the reception person at the door is RUDE. This gentleman with some east-European accent at the door treated us condescendingly, not sure if it's because we look touristy. The way he looked and talked to me made me extremely uncomfortable and unwelcome. The doorway is narrow, he seemed to deliberately stand in my way when I was passing by him. Even a decent person would be more polite than he is, not to mention he works as a receptionist in the hospitality industry.
Amazing seafood restaurant, absolutely loved it! Grilled fish of the day was very fresh and tender, we went for a sea bass and monkfish, both delicious! Lovingly looking brownie was just a sweet dot after our lunch here.
