Merritt Canteen - Bridgeport

Hot dogs are dried, so they have a nice crunch. my favorites are the Portuguese rolls they use for the breakfast sandwiches. a bridgeport. eating is coming out very quickly. the prices have risen a little, but I guess the inflation. they need more stalls around connecticut. I think they were on an episode of diners drive inns and dive on food network.

My boyfriend loves the chilli dogs here. I got a veggie burger with fries was just ok. But for meat eaters this is a great place.

I love the mural! Hopefully they fixed the so-called honey mustard sauce. Either way, my BF and I made our way back to Merritt this weekend to try the patty melt and I must say that it was perfect! Stopped by to grab another patty melt, along with a Cajun chicken sandwich, and onion rings. Everything was great! Only disappointment is the fact that they got rid of their specials menu. I'm not sure if it was something that happened as a result of the pandemic and they just never bought it back or what.

Merritt Canteen has been around for decades. I've been going for 35 plus years. Great food pretty fast service depending how crowded it is. The staff is pretty quick when it gets busy. They have handicap and wheel chair access for those who need it. Customer bathrooms. Their menu is pretty big. You will have a lot to choose from. Sorry for the 4 stars but its a bit pricey.

Cheap spot for some average food. Very small portions. Ordered a grilled chicken on a grinder and im not kidding when I say….. I think this is a hot dog bun. I opened it and I thought they gave me a hotdog by mistake. Look at my photos for reference. Honestly shocked how small this was lol
